Shilo had gone and gotten a laptop today, and had decided to play with it outside, next to the fire.

She was also trying to eat a s'more without getting any of it on the keyboard, which was an interesting process to observe.

[Open to any who wish to come along and watch Shi try to figure out her "historic" device. Or to snag a s'more.]

"I was sick for a long time." Shilo shrugged. "He wanted to make sure that I was as healthy as possible in every other way."

That made more sense. Hell, Rose could see Lissa's parents having done that.

"So he sent you to boarding school?" she asked.

"No. He... he died. So I left home, and I found myself here." Shilo was paying a lot of attention to her marshmallow.

"I'm so sorry," Rose said quickly. And hell, even if she didn't know Shilo at all, she remembered Lissa's reactions to her parents death, and she had no idea what to say here either. "That's - I don't have any idea what you must be feeling. But that's awful."

"You didn't know," Shilo replied, trying to not sound as sad as she felt. "And honestly, I'm glad when I hear people tell me that they don't even know how I'm feeling. Because I wouldn't wish this on anyone." She finally looked over at Rose again, and tried to smile.

Rose reached impulsively, meaning to squeeze Shilo's hand quickly if she let her. "Wouldn't have wished it on you either. Do you want - want to talk about it? Or do you want me to change the subject?"

Shilo allowed her hand to be squeezed, but quickly withdrew it as soon as Rose let go. "Subject changing is good," she replied.

She gave her a smile. "Have you tried peanut butter on your s'mores? If you put some on the cracker before making the sandwich, it's awesome."

"That does sound good. I'll have to try that." Shilo got her cracker and chocolate ready and started to assemble her s'more. "Something else that sounded good because my mun used to do it all the time is using the mini bars that come in the big mixed bags, and switching it up. Like putting a Mr. Goodbar on, or a Krackel, instead of the plain chocolate."

"Oooh," Rose's eyes lit up. "That sounds awesome. Then there's the peanuts all in there with the marshmallow goodness. If you like dark chocolate, you could probably even do it with those icky ones I always give away."

"All the more for me," Shilo joked, and began eating her s'more with a content expression on her face.

"Oh good," Rose said. "Then I'll just take all the Mr. Goodbars and we'll be all set."

"Deal," Shilo replied after swallowing.

"Are you ready to go back to the dorms?" Rose asked, pulling the burned skin off her marshmallow.

"I suppose," Shilo replied, licking some melted chocolate from her fingers. "I don't have a lot to worry about moving, but I feel like I only just got used to living in the cabin."

"I haven't even seen my room," Rose admitted. "But my roommate seems pretty cool at least."

"Well, that makes it more interesting," Shilo replied, trying to be optimistic.

"Hey. Anything that keeps it from being boring," Rose chuckled.
