Second Floor Common Room, Monday Evening

Due to Skrull invasions and cabin living, Tony was now three weeks behind on the best vampire detective show on syndicated TV, Darkest Night. And this Wednesday was the season finale.

So Tony picked up a box of goodies from J, GOB and settled in the second floor common room with pastries, popcorn and a bomb bottle of cola to catch up on the episodes he'd missed. Pastries for eating, popcorn for throwing at the screen. Given that the first episode he was watching featured a zombie invasion, he was going to need a lot of popcorn.

"Come on, are you serious? No zombie's that tough!"

"Lots better," Francine answered with a nod and a shudder. "Thank God. Ooh, hi, kitty! And also new person attached to kitty."

"That's good." Diana said, trying not to think about how a zombie gets better. "Samuel. I'm Diana."

"I'm Francine," she answered with a smile, offering skritchy-fingers to Samuel if he was interested. "My roomie has a cat too; her name's Dinah. The cat, not my roomie."

Samuel nosed at the fingers and tried to look all cute and innocent. "Has Dinah the cat met Dinah the girl?"

Francine nodded. "Dinah-the-girl is my friend, so she's been in our room lots. She's got a cat too, actually, but Camille's just a kitten. Kitty-Dinah is kind of old."

"Was Dinah the cat named after Dinah the girl?" Diana checked.

"Kitty-Dinah is about a hundred years older than girl-Dinah, I think," Francine said with a laugh. "Give or take."

Diana snorted. "Does she still think the world revolves around her?" Samuel perked up. "I don't think - mmmph mmph!" Diana had muzzled the cat in the middle there.

"She's old; she didn't stop being a cat." Wait. Waaaaaaait. "Um. Did he just talk?"

Diana removed her hand from Samuel's mouth. "Did you see a cat talk?"

...Possibly. Way to make Francine doubts her limited abilities of observation. "Maybe? I see a frog talk at least once a week around here, so it wouldn't be all that weird."

"He's a cat." Diana offered as a method of explanation.

That...explained either nothing, or everything, really. Francine gave him a wary but not unfriendly look. "All the time? Sometimes people turn into animals temporarily, around here."

Diana blinked. "I had nothing to do with that." In those cases. She had a lot to do with Samuel. "I'm a cat!" Samuel yelped.

"Okay, you're a cat!" Francine agreed, startled, but at least doubting her sanity a little less. To Diana she said, "I didn't think you did. You weren't even here when I turned into a pony."

"Exactly!" Diana was very relieved that that point went through.
