Second Floor Common Room, Monday Evening

Due to Skrull invasions and cabin living, Tony was now three weeks behind on the best vampire detective show on syndicated TV, Darkest Night. And this Wednesday was the season finale.

So Tony picked up a box of goodies from J, GOB and settled in the second floor common room with pastries, popcorn and a bomb bottle of cola to catch up on the episodes he'd missed. Pastries for eating, popcorn for throwing at the screen. Given that the first episode he was watching featured a zombie invasion, he was going to need a lot of popcorn.

"Come on, are you serious? No zombie's that tough!"

Karla happily obliged, ignoring Diana's explanation for a few seconds of mindless cooing at the cat. Unfortunately for Diana, when she did respond, it was mostly to unleash a barrage of questions. "Suck...blood? Why would they do that? Do they need it for sustenence, like the demon-dead? Why don't they just drink yarbarah?"

Another coo at the cat. "Detectives make more sense. In Kaeleer, though, when a crime needs investigating, a Queen will just send out a few males from her Court, likely at the suggestion of her Steward. They aren't called anything, though."

Diana gave the sigh that only a true teenager could make. "I'm sure there's a book it somewhere in the library."

Karla grinned a bit at that. It was possible that the best part of being here was the library filled with books she'd never read. "It'll give me something to look for once I've finished all of Lord Shakespeare's works."

"Vampire's leave you baffled but Shakespeare you have heard of?" Diana said, curious.

"I tried out for the theatrical in town," Karla explained. "And so I decided to read it on my own so if I get cast, I'll understand what it's about. And that made a good place as any to begin my exploration of this world's literature."

"There's a theater in town?" Diana asked, catching up.

"Yes. It's run by Lord Geoffery Tennant. We'll be doing MacGruff," she said. "Dinah and Tony know more about the theater. I just saw signs for auditions."

"Seriously? Do they have fire extinguishers and first aid kits on the ready?"

"Uhhh..." Karla wasn't certain she could answer that even if she knew what those things were. "Maybe? Are they standard theater fare?"

"They should be if you're doing that play." Diana informed her.

"What are these things," she asked.

"Fire extinguishers um...extinguish fires." Diana said. "First Aid is for when people get injured."

"I'd figured out the basics of the fire extinguishers," Karla said, dryly. "But what are they? Are they magic? Or devices like a mikerwave?"

"Eh. Like a microwave. Except no electricity and a lot of physics." Diana finally managed.

"Ah." It wasn't the most eloquent comment out there, but Karla could tell that the conversation was about to head into waters she could not follow. "Well, if you're interested, you should try out. I think auditions go on for this next week, still."
