Second Floor Common Room, Monday Evening

Due to Skrull invasions and cabin living, Tony was now three weeks behind on the best vampire detective show on syndicated TV, Darkest Night. And this Wednesday was the season finale.

So Tony picked up a box of goodies from J, GOB and settled in the second floor common room with pastries, popcorn and a bomb bottle of cola to catch up on the episodes he'd missed. Pastries for eating, popcorn for throwing at the screen. Given that the first episode he was watching featured a zombie invasion, he was going to need a lot of popcorn.

"Come on, are you serious? No zombie's that tough!"

"Sometimes I wonder." Dinah really hoped no one was going to try that for thrills. "Um. So. Merlin has it. For now. Um." She tried not to flail too much. "Good luck?"

Francine gave her a sickly smile. Then thought to add, "I didn't rat you out! He doesn't know you have one too."

HUGE EYES. Because that hadn't even occurred to her. Until now. "Thanks," Dinah squeaked. Gulp. "A lot!"

"Just don't use the Book on Flowers excuse if he ends up anywhere near it," Francine advised. "That one's kind of blown."

Dinah nodded jerkily, face stoplight-red, and said, "Not planning on it. At all. Nope. To anyone."

"I wasn't really planning on it myself," Francine pointed out. "It just sort of... happened." Mostly from the stress of the question do you know what to do next?

This was the kind of information that made Dinah just want to be completely prepared at all times. No matter what. Maybe she could, somehow, make up flash cards? Something? Keep a strip of condoms in her back pocket? Gah! "Seemed like a good idea at the time?" Dinah said weakly. Then she paused, curiosity overcoming meep. "How did he... what did he think, about you having the Book?"

"He blushes worse than I do," Francine said in a low voice. "Which is kind of comforting. The first thing he said was 'they write books about this?'" Actually the first thing he said was You brought THINGS??? but she was trying to repress that.

"Ohhh." Dinah winced and decided that whoever her guy was going to be, sometime, someday... he was going to already know they wrote books about this. Yeah. Then again: "So, at least he's definitely going to get something out of it? Hopefully?"

And gah gah gah no no mental images of Merlin, ack!

"If he looks at it." Francine tried to look as small and non-stupid as possible. "I didn't actually leave it with him on purpose."

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-05-26 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"What?!" Dinah squeaked, high and very quiet. "Wait, so, he might be just asking around about it and--" Okay, Dinah wasn't implicated, but somehow, this sounded like a recipe for disaster.

"What?" Francine shook her head quickly. "No, no, he knows it's mine. We looked at it together. Kind of. In between the slamming shut parts. I just realized after I got back to my cabin that I forgot to get it back from him."

"Oh. Oh. Okay, right." Dinah blinked, nodded, got that part of her brain back in order, and swallowed. "Well. Hopefully he'll get it back to you, after he's, you know. Figured some more stuff out."

Francine's response to that was an erf and a gulp, both nonverbal, and a "So, how 'bout them zombies!" Which just qualified as laaaame.

"They look very alive!"

Yay for the laaaaame!
