Second Floor Common Room, Wednesday Evening

For the Darkest Night finale episode, Tony handwavily picked up a couple of pizzas and several pints of ice cream. He filled up a plate for himself with a little of each. Mmm, pepperoni and chocolate. Wasn't too bad, actually.

Tonight's season finale episode featured a number of flashbacks from Raymond Dark's life. From the previews, it looked like most of them involved waterfalls, children in white clothing and butterflies. Very existential. Tony hoped they could fit some shirtless Lee in there somewhere. Maybe under the waterfall.

"I'm good," and hunh, that was the second time Fiona had refused food around her, but Dinah was already too far into fun-mode for that thought to settle in very deep, "really liked Criminal Justice class today, and I had a semi-date with Zack. Have you met him yet?"

[identity profile] cutsthestrings.livejournal.com 2009-05-28 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
That made her laugh.

"We had a 'semi-date' today," she told Dinah.

Then she shook her head.

"I'm joking. He helped me pick out a phone."

She waved the little Blackberry up for Dinah to see.

"It takes pictures! I think."

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-05-28 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
"Yay! That was cool of him," Dinah said, sitting up straighter to get a look at the Blackberry, and then grinning at Fiona. "Isn't he fun? And yeah, that one should take pictures. Are you going to send some to Eliot?"

[identity profile] cutsthestrings.livejournal.com 2009-05-28 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
She nodded immediately.

"And ask him if he knows how to work with it. Eliot can figure this stuff out in minutes. Maybe I can even save up and send him one too so we can talk."

She tucked her hair behind one ear, careful not to disturb the flower.

"And Zack is a lot of fun. He's going to show me arts and crafts sometime."

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-05-28 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
Dinah tried to decide if she should, or could, feel a twinge of jealousy about that yet... and went for not. Too early. And Zack was adorable and fun and bouncy, so who could blame anyone for liking him too? "Cool! He's going to get me Pixie Stix. Unless he picked some up when you guys got this," she said, pointing at the Blackberry. "And he's going to show you his art projects?" she asked, a tad confused.

[identity profile] cutsthestrings.livejournal.com 2009-05-28 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
"I've never been allowed to do it. Art, I mean. Or crafts. So he's going to show me some things since I'm not in the class."

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-05-28 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
"Why wouldn't you be allowed that?" Dinah wondered, even given how Fiona had been brought up. "It's supposed to be good for kids, stimulate their imagination and hand-eye coordination and stuff."

[identity profile] cutsthestrings.livejournal.com 2009-05-28 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
It was the second one that she was reasonably sure had caused her mother to forbid it.

"'RULE 11: No painting, sketching, drawing, doodling, sculpting, papier-mache, or anything in any way attempting to re-create nature or abstract themes with artistic methods (traditional, modern, electronic, or postmodern 'interpretive').'"

She gave a wry grin.

"I think the 'imagination' thing is why. But I couldn't tell you."

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-05-28 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
"You know, even given who she is? Your mom is weird," Dinah said, because she had to say something at this point. "I know you know that, but that's just... weirdly OCD, as well as the controlling." She shook her head, and made a face. "Glad that Rule doesn't apply any more. How many of them are there?"

[identity profile] cutsthestrings.livejournal.com 2009-05-28 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
"One hundred and six," she provided, leaning back on the couch with a roll of her eyes.

"I can recite most of them. Well, the most annoying ones."

She closed her eyes.

"And you can't say anything about Mother that I haven't thought."

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-05-28 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
Dinah made a face at one hundred and six, and nudged her with her foot. "That's just... yeah. How are your classes going?"

[identity profile] cutsthestrings.livejournal.com 2009-05-28 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
She rolled her eyes and stuck out the tip of her tongue in mild distaste.

"I think Professor Loki doesn't like me," she said.

"Or he likes trying to get me angry. I'm not sure which."

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-05-28 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
"Which class is he teaching, and why would he do that?" Dinah wondered, absently munching more popcorn.

[identity profile] cutsthestrings.livejournal.com 2009-05-28 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
"Teamwork," which was what it came down to really. Calling it 'Buddy Movie' seemed silly to her.

"And I don't know. He's kind of weird."

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-05-28 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
"Loki. Hunh. Might be a new teacher this semester," Dinah said, shaking her head. "I haven't heard anything about him before. Except maybe on the Radio, but I don't pay as much attention to the stuff about people I don't know. Teamwork, like building stuff?" she asked, perking up.

[identity profile] cutsthestrings.livejournal.com 2009-05-28 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Like... we did trustfalls. And building a puzzle without speaking. Today we had some sort of race where they tied us together."

Her face said plainly enough that she thought some of it was silly, but not quite all.

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-05-28 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
"Hunh. Well, it doesn't sound hard, at least. And a three-legged race?" Dinah checked. "So you had to move in rhythm when you ran?"

[identity profile] cutsthestrings.livejournal.com 2009-05-28 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
She nodded.

"Yeah. That didn't actually get done so vaaague! It was pretty easy, though. I used to mirror my brother for fun all the time. You just have to know how to watch people."

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-05-28 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
"That sounds like it could be fun." Dinah grinned, and reached for her soda. "And tomorrow we have Fashion. Yay." Or possibly not, by her tone.

[identity profile] cutsthestrings.livejournal.com 2009-05-28 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
"What do you think she'll have us doing this time?" she asked Dinah, as Dinah seemed to have more knowledge about superheroes than she did.

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-05-28 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, wow, I don't know... Maybe have us field-test our designs? Or try to scale a wall in them, or something?" Dinah wondered. "She's a scary little genius designer person."

[identity profile] cutsthestrings.livejournal.com 2009-05-28 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
She tapped her cheek thoughtfully.

"She did come up with a 'superhero' name for me when I was pretty sure all the names would sound stupid," she said, in support of her 'genius'.

"I wouldn't mind field-testing things, though."

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-05-28 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
"And she came up with one for me that makes Arthur laugh, so, that's pretty impressive," Dinah said wryly. "Hmmm. We do have it in the Danger Shop, she could set up something to see how it works?" She frowned. "I really hope she eases up on those heels, though. Or at least makes them stacked heels."

[identity profile] cutsthestrings.livejournal.com 2009-05-28 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
"What's the difference?"

She was a little more savvy on fashion since going out with Dinah, but not by much.

"I mean, I'd want flat shoes for that kind of thing anyway, even if I am usually on the balls of my feet."

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-05-28 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
"The stacked ones can give more support, although really, I'm thinking the wedges, without the arch cut out," Dinah realized. As her mun looked up shoes. "So even if they're tall, at least it supports your whole foot." She shook her head. "I want flat shoes too, but I don't know if she'll go for that."
