Karla was nervous. Well, that wasn't much of a surprise. Karla had been nervous all day. But this was a new and different kind of nervous. Now, she was about to host a party, which she had never done, in a world that was still foreign to her, and for many girls she did not know very well. It was enough to unsettle even the strongest nerves.

Still, she though she was ready. Dinah had promised to provide her laptop for movies. Karla and Gabrielle had gone to Turtle's and purchased lots of ~~moddable~~ snacks, sodas, and lots of candy and chocolates. She'd bought make-up, since Dinah had mentioned it's importance in such matters, plenty of blankets and pillows to share, and several other sundries because she wasn't entirely certain what else would be needed, and wished to be prepared. Also, lots of booze, from her private Kaeleeran stash.

Most importantly, there was a small, neatly lettered sign on the door that said 'No Males Please.'

Well, she was as ready as she was ever going to be. "Kiss kiss," she muttered.

Helen politely cleared her throat. "Excuse me?" She held out her evidence bag with the card from the flowers.

Jen smiled. "I knew I brought mine for a reason," she said. She picked up her own bag and held it out for Helen.

Helen carefully signed her name to preserve the chain of evidence and smiled. "I am Helen. I apologize, but I'm not sure I remember your name."

Jennifer signed her own name to her new bag, as well. "Jennifer Walters," she said. "It's nice to properly meet you, Helen."

"Nice to meet you as well, Jennifer," Helen agreed. She looked around the room. "I'm not quite certain what this is, though."

"Is this your first sleepover?" Jennifer said.

"A sleepover?" Helen looked a bit uncomfortable. "Oh, well... I wasn't aware this was... I'm afraid I may be, I suppose 'trespassing' is the wrong word, but I wasn't invited."

"And, well... yes. It would be if I were to stay."

"Invitations aren't necessary, I think," Jennifer said. "Really. Don't worry about it. Please, stay."

Helen bit her lip. "And what does one do at slumber parties?"

"Relax and have fun?"

Jennifer, perhaps, was not really following the rules herself.

"Ah," Helen said. "Two things I'm not so good at."

"You too?" Jennifer said. "Well, I used to be good at them. Now I don't have much time for either."

"I never was," Helen admitted. "The priests assured that I had next to no free time."

"Priests?" Jennifer asked, intrigued.

"I'm the Hand of Uquar," Helen admitted. "The Prophesied One. I had a lot of learning to do to be ready."

"That sounds really important," Jennifer said. "Wow."

"So important that once I'd fulfilled prophecy they sent me away," helen said.

Oh no, surely that couldn't be a bit of bitterness in her voice.

"I'm sorry," Jennifer said. "That can't make you feel good about things."

Helen sighed. "No. But I have to admit, it isn't as bad here as I thought it would be."

She smiled ruefully at Jennifer "How did you end up here?"

"I was sent her when my dad didn't know how to deal with me anymore," Jennifer said.

"I'm sorry," Helen said sincerely. "That must have been difficult."

"Actually, it was easier than some other things," Jennifer said. "But you don't need to worry about that."

Helen nodded. "So... one brings a book to a sleepover? I have one in my bag."

"I did," Jennifer said. "But I've turned into a bit of a nerd."

"Nerd?" Helen asked curiously.
