Karla was nervous. Well, that wasn't much of a surprise. Karla had been nervous all day. But this was a new and different kind of nervous. Now, she was about to host a party, which she had never done, in a world that was still foreign to her, and for many girls she did not know very well. It was enough to unsettle even the strongest nerves.

Still, she though she was ready. Dinah had promised to provide her laptop for movies. Karla and Gabrielle had gone to Turtle's and purchased lots of ~~moddable~~ snacks, sodas, and lots of candy and chocolates. She'd bought make-up, since Dinah had mentioned it's importance in such matters, plenty of blankets and pillows to share, and several other sundries because she wasn't entirely certain what else would be needed, and wished to be prepared. Also, lots of booze, from her private Kaeleeran stash.

Most importantly, there was a small, neatly lettered sign on the door that said 'No Males Please.'

Well, she was as ready as she was ever going to be. "Kiss kiss," she muttered.

"Without asking for details, which I'm not sure I'd want anyway, did you win?"

For a second Triela stood absolutely still. Then she drew a deep breath and shook her head. "No," she said quietly, "I didn't."

"Leda winced. "Oh shit, I'm sorry. But at least you're okay."

"Yeah," Triela tried to sound casual. "No big deal."

"I think a party is just what you need. Help you relax and forget the big bad world for a while."

"We'll see if it works, I guess." Triela didn't sound too confident about that, but she was willing to give it a shot.

"You want a drink? I've got some potent stuff that's pretty much a cure all for emo."

~~Is Mad River Water, basically has the effect of really good weed without any paranoia. Hangover is standard for booze.~~

"I better not," Triela shook her head wryly. "No way to know how it would mix with the other stuff I'm on. I imagine the answer is 'not very well' though."

Leda assumed painkillers or something. "Okay, good idea. Hmmm..." She tried to think of another idea for helping her.

Something. Definitely something.

"I've never actually been to one of these before, so I have to admit I'm at something of a loss."

"Yeah neither have I. I lived on the streets for a few years and they don't really have this kind of party then. And then when that ended, elf kids don't really do sleepovers."

Triela nodded. "Neither do government operatives."

"Really they don't cover that in basic?" Leda teased.

"Some other branch might," Triela snorted in response. "But not the Agency."
