The Second Floor Common Room, Thursday Evening
Karla was nervous. Well, that wasn't much of a surprise. Karla had been nervous all day. But this was a new and different kind of nervous. Now, she was about to host a party, which she had never done, in a world that was still foreign to her, and for many girls she did not know very well. It was enough to unsettle even the strongest nerves.
Still, she though she was ready. Dinah had promised to provide her laptop for movies. Karla and Gabrielle had gone to Turtle's and purchased lots ofmoddable snacks, sodas, and lots of candy and chocolates. She'd bought make-up, since Dinah had mentioned it's importance in such matters, plenty of blankets and pillows to share, and several other sundries because she wasn't entirely certain what else would be needed, and wished to be prepared. Also, lots of booze, from her private Kaeleeran stash.
Most importantly, there was a small, neatly lettered sign on the door that said 'No Males Please.'
Well, she was as ready as she was ever going to be. "Kiss kiss," she muttered.
[Give me a second for the OCD, please. OCD is ready to party! Sorry for the repost! Wrong LJ.]

"Never seen that one. It's a little modern for the apartment."
Most of their books were old. She supposed it was because most of her family was old.

"What year are you from?" she asked curiously.

"Most of the books at home are from '60 and earlier," she admitted with a quick grin.
"You're not the only one."

"I might be from 2009, but I totally understand."

"Hmm?"

"No, my mother was just... really really strict. I might as well be."

Re: Mingle!
She'd lived most of her life thinking her mother was dead and living with her 'Grandmother' had been rough, but the dream of her mother, of how things might have been different if she'd lived: it'd kept her going.
And she knew that nothing anyone said had helped. So she didn't say anything.
"The change in scenery was really helpful for me," she said carefully, looking at Jennifer to watch her reaction.

"I know I packed sweaters, but I get it's going to be a whole lot different."

Re: Mingle!
Of course, she should know that, could have looked up the weather patterns but... snow! Not something she'd never seen since that inopportune little 'stop' on the Maybach, but a rarity all the same.
