The Second Floor Common Room, Thursday Evening

Karla was nervous. Well, that wasn't much of a surprise. Karla had been nervous all day. But this was a new and different kind of nervous. Now, she was about to host a party, which she had never done, in a world that was still foreign to her, and for many girls she did not know very well. It was enough to unsettle even the strongest nerves.

Still, she though she was ready. Dinah had promised to provide her laptop for movies. Karla and Gabrielle had gone to Turtle's and purchased lots of moddable snacks, sodas, and lots of candy and chocolates. She'd bought make-up, since Dinah had mentioned it's importance in such matters, plenty of blankets and pillows to share, and several other sundries because she wasn't entirely certain what else would be needed, and wished to be prepared. Also, lots of booze, from her private Kaeleeran stash.

Most importantly, there was a small, neatly lettered sign on the door that said 'No Males Please.'

Well, she was as ready as she was ever going to be. "Kiss kiss," she muttered.

[Give me a second for the OCD, please. OCD is ready to party! Sorry for the repost! Wrong LJ.]

"Well be more precise next time." Triela did not fake 'prim' very well at all.

Triela may have lost a fight, but her reflexes were still unnaturally fast. Her hand snapped up to snag the piece of cheese out of the air.

Then she popped it into her mouth. "Thanks."

Triela was pretty relaxed, and Hilshire wasn't actually in the room, and usually that'd be enough to keep her distracted. But Hilshire was on the island, and apparently that was enough to keep Triela's hyper-awareness up and running.

Her hand snapped up again and she shook her head. "I'm glad you're being so mature about it."

"I am good," Triela agreed. "It's the more important half of my job, after all." She flashed a grin and tossed the cheese at Karla underhanded.

"I work in law enforcement." Sort of. "I have two major tasks: keep my handler alive in the field, and eliminate threats which he designates."

"Rome," Triela answered easily. "Hilshire's never been to the island before this trip."

"Yeah." Triela's voice was... conflicted. Fond, exasperated, frustrated... Hilshire and Triela were... complicated. "He's here looking for people to train me. After... my last mission."

As for alligators, well, Hilshire had Triela. And Triela had a shotgun.

"I may bring it up," Triela decided. "But I don't know if he'd know much about it. Neither of us have much experience with it."

"Where he goes, I go." It was simple, but true.

She might ask about that slight hesitation another time. When they were both more relaxed.

"No," Triela grinned. "I protect him." Not the other way around. Or, rather, Hilshire's protection was from a different kind of threat.

"And thanks."
