Third floor common room, Saturday evening

The week before, Leto had been given a DVD by professor Mitchell, which was supposed to clarify certain questions Leto had had regarding British comedy. He hadn't had the opportunity to watch this until now. So this evening Leto was seated on the couch in front of the TV, watching Dark Serpent, the frown on his face increasing.

"Great Maker, are they insane?"

[Open, certainly]

She shook her head, putting her head on his shoulder.

"I wasn't allowed television," she told him with a little grin, "so the only one I know is the one with the shirtless vampire."

Mmm, that was nice. Especially after all the cleaning she'd done today. And the mess yesterday.

"I wouldn't know what the difference is," she admitted. She wasn't really paying attention to it, "between British comedy and other comedy. My sense of humor's kind of weird."

She kissed him back, just as light, and her lips were curled in a smile as she pulled back.

"It's a very small perspective, I think, that lets you consider me normal."

Her hand reached up to run a finger along his jaw.

"Not enjoying it?"

Tony noticed Leto and Fiona kissing and rolled his eyes.

Tony may have received an amused look.

But who knows, right?

Her eyes slipped closed. It felt nice to have someone playing with her hair, holding her, touching her. She felt more human this way.

"I know. But my idea of a good joke usually involves dead languages and bizarre medical conditions."

Dinah was just heading into the Common Room for a bottled water before her run, and stopped dead in the doorway for five seconds when she saw that.

Oh.

Right.

'kay.

Not saying anything, she gave a quick smile to the room, eyes averted, and headed to the fridge. Water. Water. Where the heck were the bottles of water?

Fiona could feel something, a faint trembling something that wasn't in the air so much in the pit of her stomach. She couldn't have said that it corresponded to any one sense, but it made her look up and notice Dinah. Still smiling a little, she gave the other girl a wave.

"Glad to see you got through all right. And got cleaned up." She scrunched up her face in mild distaste.

"I got to clean up a bunch of it earlier today. How about you?"

She glanced at the screen.

"Do you like this show?"

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-05-30 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Dinah flicked her eyes to the screen, and nodded, lowering her voice to keep it normal. Normal, normal. "Yeah, it's a great one. Dark humor at its finest." Water. Ha, found it. Right there in the fridge door, where it'd been all along. Dinah grabbed a bottle, and lightly said, "Tony cleaned me up last night. So, why'd you have to clean up the rest of it?"

Don't look at Leto. Don't look at Tony. No reason to look at Arthur. Normal, normal, normal. Even if her face felt way too hot.

"Detention," she explained, her face scrunched up with distaste.

"I don't know why, really. Maybe because I yelled at Alex?"

She had wished he would die of botulism rather loudly last evening. Perhaps they thought it was a threat or some sort of indication of something? Who knew? She didn't know how these things worked, after all.

"Then we had really awkward tea. Well, everyone else did. I was just awkward."

Headtilt.

"Is something the matter?"

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-05-30 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Still not looking at Leto, Dinah managed a smile for Fiona. A little too wide, maybe. "No, why should there be?" Why was there?

Oh, who was she kidding. Nobody except Fiona. Not even her, really.

"Sorry you got Detention, and that you were awkward. I hear you can get it for no reason at all, too, so maybe you were just unlucky." A brief smile, nod at Leto. Still don't look at Tony. Nope. "I gotta go. On a run. You guys have fun, okay?"

Ohhhhkay, that sounded wrong now, time to leave.

She looked at Leto, then at Dinah. She knew something wasn't right, the same way she knew when people had been talking about her in a room when she'd just entered. There was that feeling, the tension, that something in the eyes.

"Take care, Dinah," which was said with perhaps a little more concern than a standard farewell. She was worried about her, even if she didn't know what it was that'd upset her.

"You too," slipped out before Dinah could call it back, and then she carefully walked out of the room, and out of the dorm.

Fiona had never been one to enjoy mathematics, but they were pretty simple in this case.

She leaned up and pressed a kiss to his cheek.

"Tell me sometime?"

Not now, not in a week. When he wanted to. When he felt he could.

[identity profile] cutsthestrings.livejournal.com 2009-05-30 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
She nodded and settled against him, happy to spend the time relaxing comfortably with someone who wanted her there.
