Deck \ Sunday \ Afternoon \ June 7

When you spend several long (but very, very good) days in your (or someone else's) dorm room, you almost got the urge to go outside and make sure the sun was still there. So, that's what Alex was doing. It was warm but not mind numbingly hot and the sun was coming and going between clouds.

He was pleasantly tired and content with nursing a bottle of water (yes, water) and smoking every so often. And hey, at least he could remember the past several days. He'd had weeks where he couldn't remember much at all before. This was an improvement.

Alex was actually having a good few days. That was a surprise to him most of all.

"Hmm." The avoidance of his eyes might have given that one away. "Let's go with generally speaking. Best not to get specific."

"Specifics are the worst," Dinah had to agree, thinking of Triela and Leto, and what she'd picked up on from Simon, as well as the Zack and George thing. "Soooo. Know who you want. Know how you want them. Do nothing to cross boundaries or lines until you know yourself first?" She gave him a smile, thinking of all Fiona's difficulties. And how confused she was, her family, new place, people.... "I guess if you can't always say happy things you can say the honest ones, hunh."

Fiona was not alone in the world of confused newcomers. "Honest is good, I guess. But sometimes it can feel like it's unnecessary."

"Honest, and kind?" Dinah tried, then frowned. "Yeah. If it's neither and doesn't have to be said...."

"Then there's no point even going there," Griff supplied. "I wish things weren't quite so complicated all the time around here. It's almost a waste of the good weather."

"I guess we could swear off everything, and never have anything, and that's pretty simple and uncomplicated," Dinah said, thinking aloud. Then she wrinkled her nose. "Naah." She grinned at him. "We could go find pizza. That's uncomplicated?"

"Pizza's never complicated," Griff grinned. "Unless you're drunk and hopping like a bunny."

"Shut up!" Dinah laughed. "I didn't know!"

"It was a fantastic reaction," he laughed.

Dinah poked him in the shoulder with one finger, grinning. "I wasn't the one going 'oh! Look, they have pretzels!' because I was too buzzed to notice them float to the table!"

"I would claim that you were using magic, but that might not work out well as an argument." What with her knowing he was a teleport.

Dinah snickered. "So we still have to get that. When we're sober. And you can bring your sketches."

"We should do it before we both forget," he decided.

"Yes! Maybe Tuesday? After Reserves?" Dinah offered, thinking about it. "Tomorrow's kinda busy."

"Tuesday'd be great," Griff agreed. "What are you up to tomorrow?"

"Training early, terrain class, then..." Dinah sighed. "Definitely seeing Zack. Maybe tracking down George. And seeing how things go." She gave a helpless shrug.

"Good luck with that," he replied. "I hope things work out to your benefit."

"Thanks." Dinah grinned at him. "And at least you've been through half the Fandom weirdness now? You just have to turn into someone else, and you're set, and not a newbie at all any more."
