Deck \ Sunday \ Afternoon \ June 7

When you spend several long (but very, very good) days in your (or someone else's) dorm room, you almost got the urge to go outside and make sure the sun was still there. So, that's what Alex was doing. It was warm but not mind numbingly hot and the sun was coming and going between clouds.

He was pleasantly tired and content with nursing a bottle of water (yes, water) and smoking every so often. And hey, at least he could remember the past several days. He'd had weeks where he couldn't remember much at all before. This was an improvement.

Alex was actually having a good few days. That was a surprise to him most of all.

[couldn't let the nice weather pass without a deck post! open as they are!]

She shook her head.

"Just... low-impact socializing."

"All the people, less interaction," she said with a shrug. She didn't have problems with crowds, after all. Just with talking.

"Only people who'll talk to me are people who want to."

She didn't actually take it as an insult.

"No, this is good. One person. Attention is overrated."

She gave him a skeptical look.

"I don't see why this is so hard to understand."

"Feelings aren't really a concern of mine," she said as she started to open the book again.

"At least, not mine."

Ie, Wrong.

"No."

Book. Book was interesting. Book was much more interesting than him.

She raised an eyebrow.

"Don't you have someone else to go molest?"

She put her fingers to the bridge of her nose.

"I don't particularly care what, or who, you do or why. I'm not particularly interested in dealing with you, so no, I'm not willing. Perhaps you should move on and keep your record."

"Molest: to disturb, interfere with, or annoy," she said plainly, looking up at him, "and you're really reading far too much into things if you think that constitutes 'interest'."

Her teeth clamped tight.

"Do you take everything said to you as being absolute truth? Grow up. You had it coming."

She put the book up again.

"Thank you, Alex."

She didn't rise to the bait, deciding instead that it would be much more constructive to use him as the mental reference for any patient in an example of her field medic guide's lessons.
