Deck \ Sunday \ Afternoon \ June 7

When you spend several long (but very, very good) days in your (or someone else's) dorm room, you almost got the urge to go outside and make sure the sun was still there. So, that's what Alex was doing. It was warm but not mind numbingly hot and the sun was coming and going between clouds.

He was pleasantly tired and content with nursing a bottle of water (yes, water) and smoking every so often. And hey, at least he could remember the past several days. He'd had weeks where he couldn't remember much at all before. This was an improvement.

Alex was actually having a good few days. That was a surprise to him most of all.

[couldn't let the nice weather pass without a deck post! open as they are!]

She finally did snatch it and turned it around to take a look.

Decidedly not asking what she thought, he watched for a reaction.

She stared at the picture for a moment, unable to say anything.

He'd gotten her smile as he wanted, the one that was just for him. Her cheeks were a little shaded, so he had drawn her blushing, the dork. Then again, it would have been hard not to. He'd illustrated her eyes as looking at the observer, direct and a little serious; she wondered absently what he thought she was thinking about while looking at him but didn't focus on it too long. He'd drawn her in his jacket, which made her feel warm all over again, with the cloth pulled tight around her.

It felt like hearing the words all over again.

She went for a glomp again, this time to hug him, and she leaned up to try and kiss his cheek as well.

He grinned and returned the hug, pleased to think her reaction must mean she liked it.

Of course, it also meant he was blushing again.

She hung onto him, or at least his arm.

"Is this how you see me?"

[identity profile] youcantfollow.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
"When you manage a smile, yes," he agreed, smiling himself.

[identity profile] cutsthestrings.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
"You mean a real one?" she asked with, well, a real one.

[identity profile] youcantfollow.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes, that one exactly." He could tell the difference.

[identity profile] cutsthestrings.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
She was still smiling.

"I guess I'll have to try and make sure you get the real ones. Not that it's hard with you."

[identity profile] youcantfollow.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
"The real ones are always preferred." He noted she was also still very close. "And I'm glad if I help make them happen."

[identity profile] cutsthestrings.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
"You do. And I have this picture to prove it now. I... I think I'm going to make a copy. Give you the original back."

[identity profile] youcantfollow.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
"No, it's yours," he insisted. "Though I won't turn down the copy."

[identity profile] cutsthestrings.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
"All right. I just want your sketchbook to have all your pictures in it," she told him as she reached out a hand for her own.

"I want to tuck it in there so it doesn't get bent."

[identity profile] youcantfollow.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 10:46 am (UTC)(link)
He passed her book back to her. "Half my pictures are tacked to the wall instead of stowed in a book. They're good reminders of where I've been."

[identity profile] cutsthestrings.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 12:43 pm (UTC)(link)
She took the sketchbook back and carefully placed the drawing inside before the book was placed in her bag.

"All the same."

[identity profile] youcantfollow.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
He watched with some amount of amusement at her care. "Some other time I'll do a whole sitting."

[identity profile] cutsthestrings.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
It was special, something new and wonderful.

"Will you warn me or just let me babble?" she asked, a little amused but also a little curious.

[identity profile] youcantfollow.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"Depends," he considered. "But I suppose you'll guess if I'm sitting with my papers and staring."

[identity profile] cutsthestrings.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"Maybe, maybe not," and she closed her bag with a pat.

"Either way, I love this one. It's... it's lovely."

[identity profile] youcantfollow.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
He was really trying hard not to blush and it wasn't quite working out. "I'm glad you approve."

[identity profile] cutsthestrings.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"You say that like I'm any judge. I just know it makes me happy."

Which was one of the most wonderful things.

Griff was so not used to doing things that made people anything. "Good, because that's the point of these things. Or so I assume."

[identity profile] cutsthestrings.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
"You're the artist," she said with a grin.
