Angela wasn't really the sort of girl to mope. Even after a rough couple of days like this. Just not in her.

She knew she'd overreacted, that it was up to her to sort out, and that she should just get over herself and do it... But she wasn't going to go out of her way to do it right this minute. Soon. She'd stop putting it off and do it soon.

Until then, she was the sort to distract herself from all the things she didn't really want to keep thinking about, by getting out of her room and flopping on the common room couch to flick through channels in the hope there was something half decent on.

The answer, as it turned out, was 'not really'.

"If my brother's previous year is any indication," Valentine said, "you're out of luck. The best solution seems to actually stock up on the extra-curricular."

Jennifer made a face. "Huh," she said. "I guess that'll have to be what I do, yeah."

Valentine grinned a little. "Do you just like to keep yourself busy," she wondered, "or just like studying and learning?"

"I'm trying to go to Harvard," Jennifer said. "It's going to be tough."

"Well," Valentine said, with a good luck sort of expression, "I hear they do like extra-curriculars..."

"I'm thinking I'll run for student government, in the fall," Jennifer said. "That should help."

"You're not going to be a senior, by chance, are you?"

Jennifer shook her head. "Junior."

"Good," Valentine chuckled a little. "I can throw in my hand for support without a guilty conscious, then. I've already promised to help Turtle with her campaign for a senior spot."

Not that it would be the first time Valentine played both sides, though.

"Oooh, maybe Turtle and I can form a ticket or something," Jennifer said.

Valentine laughed a little. "Now there's an idea."

"It'd make sense. Pooling resources, and all that," Jennifer said.

"Not to mention at least impressing a few people with that fact that you'd actually think to run a ticket in a high school election," Valentine pointed out.

"Although you'll probably just succeed in convincing the same amount of people that you're both just nerds."

"I don't think the nerd part would be a problem, at this school," Jennifer said.

"Which is funny," Valentine noted, "if you consider the previous statements about lack of academics."

Jennifer chuckled. "Good point," she said.

"Either way," Valentine offered, "that's a ticket I would probably consider voting for. Worth a try, right?"

"Definitely worth a try. I'll have to talk to her about it," Jennifer said.

Valentine was picturing a scene in which there was a lot of really high pitched noises; she'd noticed that Turtle did that about political and business stuff.

"I'll maybe mention something when I see her next, too."

"No problem. So, is your interest in student politics the start of an interest in further political dalliances, or just something that'd be good experience for the transcripts?"

"Transcripts," Jennifer said. "Lawyer is my real goal."

"Might not want to mention that in your campaign," Valentine teased.

"Definitely not going to," Jennifer said. "I think I'll have to talk it over with Turtle, though. See if we can't come up with a solid platform together."
