Fifth Floor Common Room, Friday Morning

Raven had had a much more restful sleep that night, thanks in no small part to the strength Professor Anakin had added to her shields. And he hadn't thrown her out of the school for using her powers on Chuck, so that lightened her mood as well. (And she hadn't listened to the radio and heard herself referred to as having a weird kink about doors.) She decided to test her shielding by venturing into the common room. Someone had left the TV on, and she found herself mesmerized by what was on, a strange show featuring a scruffy madman who had somehow schemed to turn the woman he loved into a mummy. He was currently fondling her bandage-wrapped form while her sister debated how to rescue her.

"I did not think it was, either," Raven said. "This show is interesting, but quite strange."

Maron tilted her head at it. "Do you think it'll have a happy ending? That would make it alright, maybe."

"I am getting the impression it will not," Raven said. "The mummified woman's sister seems quite determined to destroy the insane man. She does not approve."

"That's sad, I guess," she said, with a little laugh. "True love doesn't conquer all--at least not in this movie! We met at the shuttle, didn't we?"

"Yes, we did, briefly," Raven said. "I am Rachel, if you do not remember."

"Maron," she introduced herself, with a sheepish laugh. "Sorry? There were so many people there that I lose track of them all!"

"I understand completely," Raven said kindly. "It was overwhelming!"

Maron still looked a bit sheepish. "Totally has nothing to do with you personally, you know that right? I mean, no way could I make judgments on someone that quick, and most people are nice!"

"I understand, I am not offended," Raven said. "Please, do not trouble yourself about it."

"I'll do my best," she answered. "It's easier, since you're okay with it. Have you been enjoying it here? It's... interesting."

"I have spent much of my time in my room," Raven confessed. "It was difficult for me to adapt to this place, but I think I am making progress now."

"That's fantastic," Maron enthused. "That you're making progress! I'd imagine being stuck in your room would be a bit boring--why were you, please?"

Her eyes widened.

"If you're okay with answering!"

Raven gave her a soft smile. "It is all right to ask," she said. "It is helping me to learn to socialize. I was having difficulties because there were too many strong emotions here."

"Do they hurt you?" she wondered. "I hope not!"

"They...affect me," Raven said. "Too much at once can cause me some discomfort. But I am learning to shield myself better, with Professor Skywalker's help."
