third floor common room | morning | wednesday | july 1

Alex wasn't sure when Griff would be coming back from his trip so, since he had some sense of self preservation, he decided to make himself scarce. That included going one floor up and settling in a completely different common room then his own floor's. Griff could just make his discoveries on his own time. For now, Alex was sprawled on one of the couches, not quite hungover but not bright eyed and bushy tailed.

Of course, he wasn't ever really in that sort of mood. He was drinking (coffee) and eating (toast) and listening to some early morning news show that made no sense but it was noise and it kept him from falling asleep.

Despite it being morning, it was a vacation so Alex figured being up and lazy was allowed.

[open common room, of course. *goofs off at work*]

"You seem to be finding me plenty entertaining," she pointed out. He was looking pretty cheerful, at the very least.

And hey, she wasn't letting him kick her. Was at least hitting back. That counted.

"I am right." She's always right, remember! "You should assume that automatically by now. Save you a lot of time."

Effy shrugged lightly, picking at her handful of Lucky Charms. She probably wasn't, but she had her pride. "I'm sure you have your moments."

"I was being nice." She can be, sometimes. "And cereal should not be this colour."

Notice she's eating it anyway? Yeah.

Effy smirked. "Board game melting is an after dinner activity," she informed him. "S'okay, you're new, wouldn't know."

She glanced over at him a moment, a very brief appraisal before inclining her head in a sort of agreement with that statement. "True."

"From what I've seen, you're not missing much with that." Possibly because while her family wasn't nearly as broken as his, they were still well messed up in their way.

"Been on a lot less since I've been over here." The 'away from them' went unsaid. Less family dinners to avoid. "Maybe I'm growing as a person." Also possible!

"Infinitely." Beating out an evening spent with her parents was... not all that hard, to be honest. Tony was another matter, and used to make those things bearable. But...

There was also the thing where she considered Alex not half bad company. But instead of saying that, she ate another handful of cereal.

Effy huffed a breath of amusement, and shook her head. "Let's go with the first one. It's almost like that makes us even."

"Go get your own fucking cookies," she told him, keeping up. It wasn't like the kitchen was far away. There was bound to be some.

... And Effy didn't have any to hand out, anyway.

"Or deal with over-processed cereal." Which she finally offered. Took her long enough.

"Not my cereal." Well, she'd only scrounged it out of the cupboards, after all. "And I think I'll pass. Thanks."

"Cooties, you know? Can't be too careful." Because she hadn't done things with him far more likely to involve the passing of cooties, or anything.

"You're also a little late to be worrying about that," she remarked, deciding he apparently didn't want cereal, and pulling it back to take some more. "Lucky for you, I'm all cootie free too."
