Third Floor Common Room [Thursday Afternoon]

The last few days had been busy and Claire took advantage of being on break to sleep in.

But once she was awake, she was restless and she decided to go to the common room and bake some cookies.

Rather than bother with trashy daytime TV, she cranked up the radio and danced around the kitchenette.

Claire nodded. "Yeah, kinda. It's... a thing. I'm trying to keep it low key because there are people looking for me."

Eyes narrowing again, Triela leaned forward. "And you don't want to be found."

"No. I really don't have any desire to become a government experiment," she said.

"I can understand that. It's not all that fun."

She shook her head. "How long have you been hiding?"

"Just a few months," Claire said. "My family relocated to California from Texas but then my dad decided to take the extra step of sending me here."

"Sounds like he's pretty protective, yeah," Triela nodded. "But that might be a good thing."

"Yeah, he has good intentions," Claire agreed. "Just... not always the best methods for achieving them."

"What about this one? Are you happy to be here?"

Claire smiled. "I am now. I wasn't crazy about being sent away from my family at first though."

"Yeah. That's sort of how I felt when I first got here." Just not with the family part exactly. Though the girls at the Agency almost were.

"I guess you're glad to be here now too?"

"Most of the time. Even with the stress of being away from Hilshire."

Claire nodded. "Yeah, I miss my mom a lot. But being here has it's upsides."

Like Peter.

"It does."

She cocked her head slightly, "Any upsides in particular spring to mind?"

"Do you know Peter Petrelli?" she asked. "He's my uncle. And he kind of died back home."

"I think I've met him, I think." She grinned, "And I'm glad he's here for you."

"It's nice having him here to ust hang out with."

"I bet," Triela grinned. "Anyone else?"

"Oh, I've met so many great people here," Claire said. "Dinah, Jon, Sam, Dean, you, Ellie, Karla..."

"Then I'm glad you ended up coming."

"So am I."

Claire took the next batch of cookies out of the oven, using the mitts this time, and looked over at the other girl. "What about you? Are you glad you ended up here?"

"I think so. At least most of the time." Even when there were infuriating people like Leto around.

"I've met some pretty cool people here, too, after all."

"Everyone here seems really nice," Claire said.

"Everyone?" Triela asked with an amused grin.

"Okay, probably not everyone. But I can't think of anyone I met that hasn't been nice."
