At the picnic yesterday, Rose had discovered a major, major flaw in Zayne's planning skills.

Namely he didn't know the problems that would obviously occur if you went through SHARK INFESTED WATERS in a little boat.

Obviously there needed to be a showing of Teeth Jaws to correct this issue. 

And that was what Rose was here to do.  She'd found a copy of the movie and was making popcorn (the old-fashioned way cause the microwave was evil).  Sure, she'd been promised snacks, but someone who had never watched Teeth might not know about the importance of popcorn.

Zayne made his way to the common room with various snacks. There was some candy and Chex mix but no popcorn. Zayne didn't know that they had popcorn on this planet.

"I come with snacks," he declared.

"Yay!" Rose clapped her hands together. "I made popcorn and didn't even burn it."

"Really?" Zayne asked. "I didn't even know popcorn existed here."

"I didn't know popcorn existed in space," Rose replied. "Don't you need corn for that? Where do you get corn in space?"

Someone had watched too many movies and had a weird version of 'space' in her head.

"We have corn," Zayne said. "It's grown on a lot of agricultural planets."

Oh God, now Rose was picturing a whole planet of Iowa, and it sounded really, really boring.

"Poor people who live there."

It was a stunningly accurate description of some planets, actually.

"They're pretty much all farmers, so they're used to it," Zayne said. "And then they probably race swoop bikes when they're done with their work, so it could be worse."

She finished the pan of pocorn and dumped it into a bowl. "D'you like butter and salt on your popcorn?" Rose asked. She shrugged. "Anything that involves racing later probably can't be too bad, I guess. Stil. Glad I'm not them."

"Sure," Zayne said. "And I'm glad I'm not them, either, really. I can't imagine farming would be as fun as helping people across the galaxy, you know?"

Yeah, that might have been snickering at him for that comment. "I think the traveling across the galaxy part would be fun?"

After the best night's sleep he'd ever had (an actual mattress and being indoors may have helped with that) and a busy day, Kyle was making his way up to the fifth floor. Instead, he followed the smell of popcorn, something he didn't recognize, but he knew food when it made his mouth water.

That would be why there was a head poking in the doorway. "What is that?"

"What is what?" Rose asked, grinning at the head. And really hoping there was a body attached to said head.

"That part, too," Zayne said. He was probably the most earnest boy in the galaxy, it's true. "So, we have the food. You did bring the movie, right?"

"It's already in the DVD player," Rose said, picking up the bowl of popcoarn and some sodas. "Ready to see the Problem with Sharks?"

There was, in fact, a body that soon followed. "I was talking about the smell," he said, staring at the TV. "But now I want to know what that is too." He pointed at the screen. Kyle had seen a TV before, but not an actual movie.

"Yes, I am," Zayne said. "I just wish I saw this before the cruise last spring. I could have been better prepared."

"Hello. You're new, right?" Zayne checked.

"The smell is popcorn," Rose said, relieved to see there wouldn't be just a floating head attending classes now. "The movie is Teeth Jaws." She made a face at him. "And I'm Rose."

"No, I've been here since the dawn of time. I don't get out much."

"You're just lucky there wasn't a shark attack," Rose agreed as she headed towards the couches. "You didn't have any plan at all."

He walked further in to get a better look at the TV, standing a little too close to it. "Kyle Reese. A movie?" he repeated back at her, finally turning around to see who he was talking to. "So this isn't happening somewhere now?" He'd only ever seen screens like this used for UAV feeds.

"My plans don't work anyway," Zayne said, making room for the popcorn on the table before taking a seat on the couch. "I'd probably be better off having no clue and then just hoping I'd survive."

"Oh?" Zayne asked, playing along. "What brings you out of hiding now?"

"Oh, so all that talk of stealing a plane and avoiding the volcano was just that?" she teased, finding a spot on the couch and putting the popcorn between them.
