Ben didn't have classes on Wednesdays, but he did have a weekly butt-kicking sparring session with his grandfather tomorrow and he hadn't practiced at all during his week in Archenland.

Besides, he'd promised Zack to show how a lightsaber worked. So, after slapping up a helpful "LIVE FIRE. KNOCK BEFORE ENTERING" sign on the door, he was in the salle with his lightsaber and four remotes, batting laser beams harmlessly into walls.

Not that he'd admit it, but the familiar feel of lightsaber practice was calming his rather jangled nerves.

Oh, did she sound a little breathless? Tahiri looked up at him, slightly dazed. "Is practically required, except I might really fall over."

"And that could be really bad if someone walked in," he said, chewing on his lower lip and thinking ahead for once.

"Maybe just a little." Because they hadn't made out in front of her cabin last session or anything like that. "So, not in here then."

She . . . was not thinking that far ahead at the moment.

"Or we could risk it," Ben said, showing the kind of judgment that had gotten his grandfather into a secret marriage.

Yes, because Tahiri was so likely to call him on that, being such a paragon of excellent judgment herself. "And risk being stepped on if people want to practice."

Ben pondered. "Meet you at the beach?" he suggested.

Tahiri slowly started to let go of him. "Usual spot?"

He leaned in to kiss her nose. "Perfect."

Tahiri's eyes crossed for a second. "I'll go get the ice cream this time."

"I knew I liked you," Ben said.

She'd been about to go, but Tahiri went to hug him one more time. "I'm really, really glad you do, you know."

"It's not just the ice cream, either," he murmured in her ear.

She probably didn't need to project her emotions toward him, because the gratitude and affection were just about pouring off her. "I was kind of hoping not."

"Meet you in fifteen minutes," he said, kissing her quickly. Ish.

[weetuskenraider]

"Fifteen," Tahiri echoed, letting go of him.

They might as well just put up a tent on the beach now.
