Salle, Monday morning

Blair was gone. This was bothering Serena more than she'd care to admit, looking across her the room they'd shared in the cabins to see an empty bed. It was what had gotten her up early that morning, grabbing her gear and heading to the salle. At least if she was going to have things on her mind, she could get a bit of practice in. It would help her focus. Help her not think about her best friend and the fact they'd not-yet worked things out here. That they'd left things on bad terms.

Or at least, she hoped it would.

"I don't wanna think about his bedside manner," Dinah said automatically, making a face. "But yeah. He's a good coach." She tilted her head and asked, "So, where and when are you from?"

"I meant it more figuratively than literally," but she grinned, wrinkling her nose in amusement. "You know, anywhere else and I'd think that was a crazy sounding question. New York, 2008."

Dinah grinned. "New Gotham, 2009. And yeah, anywhere else, but here? Even a year or two makes that big difference." She shook her head. "Or a hundred miles. Have you ever heard of New Gotham?"

"Never," she admitted with a quick shake of her head. "Again, not that it's so surprising. I mean, I met an elf the other day."

"Leda?" Dinah checked. "I know, weird the first time, right? And then you find out your roomie is dating an alien, and the whole curve gets kinda skewed." She sighed in exasperation. "Barely anyone's heard of New Gotham, and it's the same size as New York City. What is up with that, I do not know. So, are you liking it here so far?"

"That's her," she'd liked the girl. Serena thought she should look her up, see her again. "That is strange. Though, everyone seems to have heard of New York, and not everyone seems to know the same New York. I think it changes from person to person."

"From what I can figure out, yeah." Dinah smiled, then shrugged. "Anyway. I should get back to practice before Arthur gets more cranky. What cabin are you in? Maybe I'll see you around."

"Bitter Woman," she said with a grimace. "You have to love the names, don't you?"

"You do!" Dinah laughed. "I'm in Smile Time. With four other people who like sugar and Katina, who hates us all." She grinned and gave her practice sword a little wrist-twirl like Arthur's. "Have fun there. And see you!"
