Main Campfire - Wednesday Morning

It was too nice a day to not take advantage of before being cooped up at work all afternoon and evening, Claire decided. Which was why she was out at the main campfire early with breakfast sausages and a huge iron skillet she found that would cook eggs over an open fire.

She was in an excellent mood, now that her boyfriend was no longer puppy-shaped. They had handwavily spent the previous evening snuggling and watching movies.

For now her excellent mood translated into making breakfast for anyone who happened to stop by.

[Open campfire! I know I'm not the only one stuck at work and not off on vacation.]

That got a blink.

"The school assigned you a position?"

He'd never heard of that.

"This is not normal?" Raven asked. "I assumed it was, for I did not seek one myself. I received a phone call and was told I was to be hired."

Liir shook his head.

"Not at all, I'm afraid," he said, now just a touch worried.

"But a job gained is a job gained, I suppose... unless you didn't want one?"

He couldn't imagine that himself.

"I did wish to find one," Raven said. "Joan told me I should get a job if I wished to have money so she could take me shopping. I had not yet begun to look for one when I was told I was to work at Decadent Delights." She couldn't help but blush, just a little, because of what the store specialized in.

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2009-07-22 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Liir made assumptions.

"Do you like chocolates then?"

[personal profile] trigons_child 2009-07-22 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Raven nodded. "The taste is enjoyable." She'd sampled some of the chocolates in the shop -- just not the ones shaped like any part of the human body. Those she tried very hard not to look at.

"You might come by the Cafe Fina today, as I'll be doing chocolate hazelnut cookies. I'm a bit brownied-out, if that could be used as a phrase, but those cookies were some of the first I learned to make with chocolate, taught to me by a rather lovely professor."

He still missed Miss Lulu.

"I'm glad you found a job in a place that you enjoy, though."

"Those sound delicious," Raven said, making a mental note. "Food on Azarath is rather simple, but I have discovered many interesting treats since arriving here. I think if Decadent Delights were merely a candy store, I would risk eating far too many of the chocolates."

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2009-07-22 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
He blinked, again. She's very good at that.

"What else do they sell there?"
trigons_child: (Shy)

[personal profile] trigons_child 2009-07-22 03:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Raven squirmed a little, blushing more. She wasn't supposed to feel embarrassment, but Azar had hardly prepared her for this kind of conversation. "Devices to enhance pleasure," she said.

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2009-07-22 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
He noticed the squirming more than her answer.

"I see," and he didn't but he was happy to leave it at that.

"Well, good for that, then. That it's not all chocolates."

"I try not to look at the other things too much," Raven said. "It has been quiet the days I worked, so I have used the time to meditate or read."

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2009-07-22 04:01 pm (UTC)(link)
"I tend to read at work as well," he told her, glad for a switch of topic, "though that's easy enough since I work in a bookstore on Friday's."
trigons_child: (Leaning back)

[personal profile] trigons_child 2009-07-22 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Change of topic was GOOD.

"Perhaps I should visit you," Raven said. "I have yet to explore the bookstore."

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2009-07-22 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"You should," he agreed with a smile.

"We have a very good selection. And Millie, the store owner, is very kind."
trigons_child: (Smile)

[personal profile] trigons_child 2009-07-22 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"Then I definitely must visit," Raven said. "I only brought a few books with me from Azarath, and I can never refuse finding more."

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2009-07-22 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
He smiled thoughtfully as he leaned back with his breakfast.

"When I first came here, I didn't have a one. A book, I mean. I went in there looking for a job and the owner gave me both a job and a book as a gift."
trigons_child: (Curious)

[personal profile] trigons_child 2009-07-22 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"That was kind of her," Raven said. "Did you choose the book? What was it about?"

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2009-07-22 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
He shook his head.

"It was the tale of a girl at a boarding school. It was a book that had meant a great deal to her."

His smile was warm.

"I wouldn't have known what to pick anyway. It was a kindness."
trigons_child: (Looking to the side)

[personal profile] trigons_child 2009-07-22 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
"My books are all philosophy and mystical studies," Raven said. "I have never read any fiction, although some of it has sounded intriguing."

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2009-07-22 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"I was taught to read on old romance novels," and yes, some of them were horrible and no, Liir was not mentioning the one with the Horse because then he'd have to also mention who'd OWNED the book and then everyone's brains would require bleach.

"But most of my books now are on magic. Or cooking."

The first he'd been given, the second he'd gradually bought over the time here.
trigons_child: (Curious)

[personal profile] trigons_child 2009-07-22 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"I have never read a romance novel," Raven said. "Ms. Blue's store has some in stock, but they are terribly graphic and far-fetched." Not that she'd looked at any of them, of course. "Books on magic I find fascinating. Cooking I have never tried."

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2009-07-22 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
...those would be the kind he'd read, yes. Unfortunately.

"You'd be welcome to see the ones I have. I... doubt I'll ever be able to return them, considering, so I suppose they are mine now. And if you ever wanted to try cooking, you'd only have to ask me and I'd show you."

"It does seem a useful skill to possess," Raven said. "The dorm food is not always appetizing, and those who are kind enough to share food do not always have meals without meat."

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2009-07-22 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"You don't eat meat?" he asked curiously.
