Third Floor Common Room, Tuesday Night - CANDY PARTY

Shilo had Frooties, Blo-Pops, Tootsie Rolls, and Starbursts out in bowls, and had stocked the fridge full of sodas and juices. She had a selection of ~~meta for~~ Disney movies to pick from.

The Candy Party was on a roll.

"It is. I knew it would end; it had too, but not without side effects, I guess." She shrugged a little shoulder. "Hurley's pretty sensitive. How's Liir?"

"I'm not sure," she admitted. "We went out for ice cream on Sunday and he was obviously pretty shaken by whatever happened."

Penelope frowned a little. "He didn't tell you about it?"

"He told me a little bit," Joan said, not comfortable sharing some of the details that Liir had given her. "Did Hurley tell you stuff?"

She wouldn't ask. If Liir had wanted Pen to know, he would have said something when she'd checked on him. "Yes, he did," she said, her tone quiet. "It wasn't very pleasant, Joan. And it was like he was really there. The other him." She shook her head. "It was real for them and I can't help but feel helpless in knowing what to say to make it better."

Joan nodded emphatically. "Me too. Liir and Rachel are both feeling horribly guilty about things they did there or that their other selves did and I have no idea how to convince them that they shouldn't."

"I know," she agreed. "There is nothing to say other than reassure them that, that was another place, another time, another person that they can't be responsible for."

"Yeah, I think that's easier for us," she admitted. "Did anyone say if they ran into an alternate you there? Rachel said she was pretty sure I had never even gone to Fandom in that universe."

"No," she said, a little surprised she hadn't considered asking Hurley that very question. "But I might ask Hurley if he saw me."

Joan considered that. "Maybe you're better not knowing?"

"You're probably right," she admitted. "I joked with Hurley last night and you would have thought I'd kicked him. It's going to take time for those who went through it, and some longer than others I suspect."

"What's going on with you two?" she asked.

Penelope glanced away and shuffled the toe of her Mary Jane against the floor. "I don't know really. He wants to date me. I... don't know."

"You don't want to date him?" she asked. "Or you don't want to date anyone?"

"I'm uncertain about what to do. I want to date, I do. And Hurley does mean so much to me. I guess... maybe it's the commitment factor."

Joan nodded. "That makes sense. Maybe tell him you want to take it slow?"

She nodded. "I should say something, I should. I never answered him last night and I guess that's unfair." She smiled. "Are you and Liir like... a couple now?"

"Uh... no," she said. "But we're going to go on a date."

Pen just kept grinning. "Well, it's obvious you care for him."

Joan shrugged, but gave her a little smirk. "It's pretty obvious you care about Hurley."

She twisted her lips before teasing her. "I think you need a mouthful of candy."

"Oh do I?" she teased back. "Then so do you."

"A mouthful of gummi bears for you Joan," she decided, slowly stepping back towards the candy bowls. "Maybe... Nerds. Or Pop Rocks!"

"Aaah, I'm on to you, Wilhern. You're going to feed me pop rocks and soda and make my head explode!"

Penelope blinked wide eyes at Joan before she cracked up laughing. "Would that truly happen?"
