Third Floor Common Room, Wednesday Evening

For the second night in a row, Bobby had set up a common room with his Go-Between Guy DVDs. This time, however, he'd also ordered a bunch of Chinese food- enough to share if anyone came by. He might not be able to cook, but at least he could feed people this way. It was only fair considering the number of times he'd had others' cooking.

Jennifer waved at Harper. "Hi," she said.

"Hi! I didn't know you lived on this floor," said Harper, smiling. "Wait... you do live on this floor, right? Or are you sneaking in like me?"

"I didn't think there was rules," Jennifer said. "I'm up on the fifth."

"Ahh, I see. I'm up on the fourth floor, but my BFF Alex lives on this floor and I used to stay with her sometimes when she didn't have a roommate," explained Harper. "But I've heard stories about competitions between floors and stuff."

"Really?" Jennifer said. "Like... what sort of competitions?"

"I'm not quite sure," said Harper, scrunching up her nose. "It sounded like people just claimed that their floor was better than anyone else's. Kind of like floor pride, I guess."

"That's kind of... dumb," Jennifer said. "Overly competitive."

"I thought it was just kind of fun," said Harper. "Like, what does the fifth floor have that no one else does?"

Jennifer shook her head. "I guess I'm not the bragging type."

"Wow. I've never met anyone who didn't brag at least a little bit. At least, I don't think I've met anyone who didn't brag. Then again, at my old school, everyone bragged at least a little," said Harper.

"Well, I don't think I have much to brag about, usually," Jennifer said.

Wait til you get comfortable with being big and green, hon.

"Well, there's got to be something about yourself that you're proud of. My grandma says that when you tell people about your best qualities, it's not bragging. It's self-confidence. Like how I show everyone how creative I am with my fashion designs," said Harper.

She certainly wasn't lacking for self-confidence.

Jennifer nodded. "I guess I'm just saving it all for when I'm a lawyer," she said.

"It doesn't hurt to practice, though. Practice makes perfect, or so my grandma says," said Harper with a grin.

"True," Jennifer said. "But I'll wait for some sort of mock trial class."
