Sixth Floor Kitchen - Thursday Afternoon

The events of last week had triggered Claire's domestic instincts so after a trip to town for supplies, she set up shop in the new kitchen, cooking up pounds of pasta and three different kinds of sauce - a regular tomato, a four cheese and a pesto.

She also had salad and hot, crusty Italian bread.

"I think this is a little too much for one tiny little blonde," Elle said with mock seriousness, studying the food.

Claire laughed. "There miiiiiiight be enough for two of us."

"I think two tiny blondes might be able to finish it off," Elle said with a solemn nod before grinning.

"How's it going, Elle?" Claire asked.

Elle shrugged. "It's going. Most exciting thing was babysitting my friend Elle and her dog when she turned into a cat. The friend, not the dog. The dog's a he, anyway."

"There's been a lot of that going on," Claire said. "My boyfriend was a puppy for a few days. So was my uncle's."

"People aren't supposed to be animals," Elle said, wrinkling her nose. "That's just weird."

"Yeah, well, there's a lot around here that shouldn't be what it is," Claire pointed out.

"And all that stuff's weird, too," Elle countered, stifling a laugh. "Yeah, I get what you mean. I'm just used to weird. But animals? A little beyond my experience."
