The Deck [Saturday Night]

It had been a weird day, between the guy at the diner freaking out and Dinah heading out of town. Claire decided to head out to the deck with a pitcher of iced tea and enjoy the evening.

She idly considered building a fire, but decided against it because of the heat.

Claire considered that. "Yeah, I guess. But I think it's just warm."

Jennifer nodded. "I guess I just keep trying to make the place even more fantastical," she said.

"Well, from what I heard, the island did move around last summer," Claire told her.

"Wait, really?" Jennifer said. "...I totally had no idea."

Claire nodded. "That's what I heard, yeah. It went all over the place."

"Like a cruise ship," Jennifer said.

"Yeah, I guess," Claire said. "Woulda been fun, I think. See the world without leaving the comfort of home."

"Well, there's always next summer," Jennifer said. "Or who knows, maybe they'll take us to the North Pole for Christmas."

"That could definitely be fun," Claire agreed. "So how's your summer going?"

"Well, pretty good," Jennifer said. "Gained super powers, had some good classes, not so bad, you know?"

"Gained super powers?" she asked.

"Did you miss that Fight Club?" Jennifer said.

"I must have," Claire said. "What happened?"

"I kind of... turn big, green, and super-strong when I get angry," Jen said.

"Okay, note to self, don't piss off Jennifer," Claire said. "Do you know what causes it?"

"I caught it from my cousin," Jennifer said. "He gave me a transfusion when I was home, because of an accident, and now I turn into this She-Hulk thing. But I haven't had the chance to talk to him about it, yet."

"So turning big and green when you're angry runs in the family."

"Sort of," Jennifer said. "I mean, I don't know why Doc does it, yet."

Claire nodded. "At least you can talk to him about it."

"Well, I hope I can," Jennifer said. "I think he might be... on the Lam."

"... from who and why?"

"From the police," Jen said. "Because I think he kind of... breaks things, when he turns all green. Like... big things."

"Oh. That's not good," Claire said.

"Yeah," Jennifer said. "It doesn't sound like him, so... hopefully I can talk to him about it."

Claire nodded. "And, hey, a lot of people here have dealt with weird powers, so at least you're in a good place for it."
