Third Floor Common Room, Late Sunday Morning

Kate had partaken in free common room breakfast on her first morning at Fandom High, so today she thought she’d return the favor.

Unfortunately pancakes were beyond her abilities and she didn’t want to call her brother for help, so she made a safe fruit salad instead. There was a big bowl of it on the kitchen counter, and it was meant for anyone who happened to make their way into the common room, new and old students alike.

She also had all her leftover chocolate coins in a smaller bowl on the table.

Didi stared at Layla for a long moment. "See, that's why mortals aren't supposed to date the Endless at home."

She considered this. "Okay, mostly it's that my brother is an idiot, but yeah, the whole world-destroying love triangle thing comes up."

"Okay, good," Layla said sounding a bit relieved. "Good to know that's not going to happen though... okay who's your brother?"

"The one who's the reason we made the rule is Dream," Didi said, feeling a stab. She would miss Morpheus. "The others are Destiny and Destruction. Destruction quit, though."

"Entities can do that?" Layla asked incredulously.

"Kind of hard to make one of us do something we don't want to do," Didi said ruefully.

"Huh," Layla replied. "I would think that there would be issues if such entities like destruction would walk away from their duties.

Didi shrugged. "And yet the universe manages."

"For once I'm not sure I want to know," Layla said with a small frown.
