Third Floor Common Room, Late Sunday Morning

Kate had partaken in free common room breakfast on her first morning at Fandom High, so today she thought she’d return the favor.

Unfortunately pancakes were beyond her abilities and she didn’t want to call her brother for help, so she made a safe fruit salad instead. There was a big bowl of it on the kitchen counter, and it was meant for anyone who happened to make their way into the common room, new and old students alike.

She also had all her leftover chocolate coins in a smaller bowl on the table.

The mention of underwear made Jaime blush. "Er... I'll keep that in mind."

"You missed the boxer raid by a month," Kate grinned. "I doubt it's happening again too soon. And it's probably more of a cabins than dorms thing."

"Cabins thing?"

"You don't know about the cabins yet?"

"Newbie," he reminded her with a smirk.

"I remembered that, but I keep forgetting this isn't exactly the same as when I came here," Kate grinned. "So, the school has these cabins, and we live there the first few weeks of every summer term."

Jaime blinked. "Why?"

"I have no idea. Because we can have s'mores there? And alcoves instead of rooms?"

[weldedtomyspine]

"Well... I do like s'mores," Jaime allowed.

"See? That's probably the main reason," Kate grinned. "And the campfires are pretty nice."

"And I totally missed out, huh?"

[vanillajello]

"Yeah, sorry. You'll only get to enjoy them if you stay until next summer."

Kate thought about it for a moment. "Although I'm not sure whether we'd actually be allowed to go there during the year..."

"Maybe we could ask forgiveness rather than permission?"

"Could be easier to obtain," Kate smirked.

"Got a source for marshmallows and chocolate?"

[vanillajello]

"Please. I'm the queen of stashing uhealthy snack foods, and whatever I don't have can easily be purchased at Turtle and Canary."

"That's the name of a store?"

[vanillajello]

"Yeah. There's this girl Turtle who goes here who's one of the owners. I'm not sure where the Canary part comes from."

"Well, I try not to be picky about the names of my local junk food supplier."

"You better not be, considering how Turtle and Canary sells pretty much everything. You're going to find yourself there a lot, not just for junk food."

"What? Are you suggesting I might have to buy something other than junk food?"

[vanillajello]

"Yes."

[weldedtomyspine]

"Like what?" Jaime asked with a mock-horrified grin.

"New pencils," Kate suggested.

"But what would I need those for?" Jaime smirked.
