Second Floor Common Room: Sunday Evening

It was a rather bored looking Layla who was flopped upside down on the couch and doing some channel surfing.

Currently it was on the Travel Channel and Layla was watching the host of Man vs. Food trying to scarf down the hottest curry known to man called "Phaal".

"Clearly I'm starved for entertainment," Layla said to herself with a loud sigh.

"You want food?" Tara asked as she wandered in. "I, I c-could cook..."

"Sure!" Layla said propping herself up on her elbows. "But only if you're making something for yourself Tara."

"I was going to do PB+J," Tara said. "And I think we still have some chips....?"

She went up on tiptoe to fish for them.

"Sounds good," Layla replied. "Would it be too much trouble to have a little mayo on mine too? How have your classes been so far?"

"Hey Tara." Diana said, oddly cheerful. Samuel was curled up in her arms. "Whatcha cooking?"

"Peanut butter and jelly," Tara answered, then, with a very grossed-pout look at the blonde, added, "Layla wants mayonnaise on hers."

Karla gave Tara a warm smile when she came in. "Tara," she said, fighting back a yawn. "How've you been?"

"Hi Karla," Tara smiled. "Good. Um, mostly classes and work, but -- good. I liked the flowers yesterday, did you see them?"

"Wanna play dice?" George asked, wandering into the common room. "Be better than - what's he eatin' there?"

"Phaal," Layla replied. "It's a hot curry dish. The chef has to wear a gas mask to cook it."

"'m thinkin' that means tisn't fit t'eat," George said, making a face.

"Dice?" Tara repeated, with a nod of greeting. "Like, um, Monopoly?"

She had no idea how one played dice.

"Not a'tall," George said. Even though he didn't have a clue what Monopoly was. "Tis easy. Ye just roll th' dice and bet on what'll come up."

"George." Diana greeted him sweetly. For her. It was a little scary for most people.

"Lass," he said, smiling sweetly back. "How d'you do?"

"Hey George," Karla said, giving him a yawn and a wave. "Oops. Sorry. How do you play?"

He chuckled, giving her a teasing bow in reply. "I ain't teachin' ye if yer that bored already!"

Diana was walking her cat. Or more specifically, removing her cat from her room so he would stop scratching up her bed. "Why do that to food?" She wondered after looking at the TV for a few seconds.

"Because of the novelty," Layla explained. "One special dish that seems to be impossible to eat. It brings people into the restaurant."

Diana made a face. "I like the show with the guy who goes to the places that you actually can eat normal food in. And none of them ever go to Canada." She randomly added.

Karla waved at Diana and held out her hand to Samuel. "I'm glad I didn't run into you while I was an Arcerian kitten," she told him solemnly. "I picked fights with Camille over territory."

Samuel butted his head at the offered hand, hoping for scratches. "I don't think Samuel has those kind of problems." Diana reassured her.

Karla sauntered in, a little bleary-eyed. Even a shower hadn't fully woken her up. Someone had slept most of the weekend away. In her defense, it had been quite a week for her.

"Whatcha watchin'," she yawned. "And why is that male wearing a mask?"

"He's cooking 'phaal'," Layla replied. "It's a curry dish that's so spicy he has to wear it while cooking."

Karla watched the teevee for a few more moments, her expression dubious. "I've made something that got a similar reaction once," she mentioned, "except I did it by accident."
