The garage- Monday evening

There had been a couple talks lately that had made Jaina think that getting back into the garage was a good idea. She hadn't done much at all since she'd finished the hoverboard... nearly two years ago, which she didn't really like. It wasn't really something she'd meant to give up, especially if she couldn't work on the ships back home while she was here.

So she was in the garage, in grease-stained coveralls that were actually looser than they had been when she first got to Fandom, doing some routine maintenance on the swoop bike between calls she had to make for work. She was trying to multitask.

That would be a lot easier if she could find her hydrospanner. It was probably a good thing she hadn't seen the little blue things take off with it, lest she think they were oxygen-deprived gremlins or something.

"I've noticed," she agreed. "And why are you missing a boot again?"

"No idea," Tahiri said, annoyed. "I swear, it was there one second and when I looked again it was gone."

[solo_sword]

Huh. "That seems to be a thing. I keep finding things missing. I'm afraid where they might end up, this being Fandom..."

[weetuskenraider]

"Yeah, I think I'm missing my multitool, too. Better hang onto your comlink with both hands," Tahiri advised. She wasn't all that attached to hers, but the idea of Jaina without a comlink was too weird to consider for long.

Jaina's eyes widened, and her hand immediately went to her pocket to make sure it was still there.

"That moment of panic was the saddest thing I've ever experienced," she realized.

Tahiri burst out laughing. She couldn't help it. "I won't tell anyone."

[solo_sword]

"Your fault for worrying me anyway," she pointed out.

[weetuskenraider]

"You'd have been sorry if you didn't check, and found out it was gone when you really needed it," Tahiri countered.

[solo_sword]

"...Probably." Jaina frowned again. "Shouldn't I be older before I turn into my mother?"

[weetuskenraider]

Tahiri grinned. "It's when you get worried about them running off all over the galaxy without telling you what they're up to that you're really going to have a problem, I think. And then you'll send spies after me when I don't call you back."

[solo_sword]

"They already do that, I just don't worry. Yet," she added. "I don't think I'm ready to make the leap to worry, and hopefully won't be for a good long time."

[weetuskenraider]

"Just about everybody I know back home does that anyway," Tahiri realized. "Worrying would be kind of pointless."

And yet, she did it anyway. Go figure.

"I figure I'd know if something really bad happened," she reasoned. And the day she realized that she might not, she'd probably freak out.

"Let's avoid that as much as possible?" That was kind of a reasonable request, right?

[solo_sword]

"I do what I can to avoid it," she said helpfully.

[weetuskenraider]

"Of course you do." Tahiri grinned, although it was a little strained, suddenly. "I . . . should probably go."

[solo_sword]

"All right," Jaina said slowly. "Good luck with the boot."

[weetuskenraider]

"Sorry," Tahiri said, backing up a step or two. This was annoying, and minorly embarrassing. "Have fun, um . . . being mechanicy."
