Fifth Floor Common Room [evening]

Sookie had spent part of the evening on the phone with her Gran and with Tara, trying to get either of them to come visit for Parents' Weekend. The result -- aside from promises that both of them would try to make it -- was a craving for something from home.

Which was brought her out to the common room to bake a pie. This served dual purposes:

a) It smelled great and would likely provide her with company as a result, and

b) Now she had something to eat while watching Yell, which was apparently from her time but she'd still never seen. So pie seemed like a good accompaniment to being curled up on the couch and staring wide-eyed at the screen. (It was scary, okay.)

"Hey Sookie," Hurley said, popping into the common room. He sniffed.

"Pie?"

"Pecan," she said with a nod, gesturing to the kitchen counter. "Help yourself!"

Oh like it's shocking that the smell of pie would totally draw Bobby to the common room as he made his way down from the roof.

"Sookie! What're we watching?" he asked as he flopped down on the couch.

"Oh, awesome," Hurley said. "You know, I think if I ever tried to diet, I'd fail just on the basis of awesome people like you."

"I could try and make it healthier!" Sookie said, looking a touch guilty. "But it's so goooood with the sugar and the butter and all."

"Hey Bobby," Hurley said with a wave. "I dunno, but its kinda scary. I just hope it's not too bloody."

"Oh, please, no," Hurley said. "I'm big. I'm used to it. It's kinda... how I am, you know?"

"Yell," she said, wide-eyed. "It's kinda scary. That's why it's good there's pie."

"Well, it's nice havin' someone to appreciate my cooking," she decided, smiling.

"And I definitely appreciate it," Hurley said, getting a slice. "I wish I could cook like this. Or... half as good."

"It's a scary-movie antidote?" he asked with a grin.

"Not a blood fan, dude?" Bobby guessed. Not that he was exactly crazy about people bleeding all over the place either, but when you're a teenage vigilante superhero you learn to deal with those sorts of things.

"I'm not so good with blood, man," Hurley said. "Even on TV."

"Exactly," she replied. "I'm less scared if I got pie here to comfort me."

"I've just been doing it forever," she said, blushing a little. "It's not hard to learn! I taught Bobby to make cookies the other day."

For a given value of 'taught.'

"Oh, I can do it," Hurley said. "Mostly, like, enchiladas and empanadas and stuff. And pancakes. But nothing like this pie."

Bobby's first instinct was to offer himself to do comforting, buuuut as usual he chickened out and went for a joke instead. A horrible joke, at that.

"Good thing it's not chicken pot pie, then, or it'd probably be hiding under the couch right about now."

"It's not really one of my favorite things either," Bobby had to admit. "Actually, I kind of worry about anyone who counts blood as a favorite thing."

"See, I wouldn't know how to cook an enchilada if the recipe came up and smacked me in the face," she said cheerfully. "Though I can tackle pancakes."

"...oh, Bobby," she tsked. "Honey. You're better than that joke."

"Guess people have their specialties, right?" Hurley said. He took a bite of the pie as he sat. "Oh, delicious."

"...Vampires, I guess?" Hurley said.

"Well yeah," Bobby shrugged. "I suppose that's sort of a given. But I don't think there's any here, you know?"

"Thank you," Sookie beamed. "You have to make enchiladas for me sometime. I've just decided."

"Yeah, I don't think there are, either," Hurley said. "Which is good, cause it means nobody gets turned into a midnight snack."
