Fifth Floor Common Room [evening]

Sookie had spent part of the evening on the phone with her Gran and with Tara, trying to get either of them to come visit for Parents' Weekend. The result -- aside from promises that both of them would try to make it -- was a craving for something from home.

Which was brought her out to the common room to bake a pie. This served dual purposes:

a) It smelled great and would likely provide her with company as a result, and

b) Now she had something to eat while watching Yell, which was apparently from her time but she'd still never seen. So pie seemed like a good accompaniment to being curled up on the couch and staring wide-eyed at the screen. (It was scary, okay.)

"Hey Bobby," Hurley said with a wave. "I dunno, but its kinda scary. I just hope it's not too bloody."

"Not a blood fan, dude?" Bobby guessed. Not that he was exactly crazy about people bleeding all over the place either, but when you're a teenage vigilante superhero you learn to deal with those sorts of things.

"I'm not so good with blood, man," Hurley said. "Even on TV."

"It's not really one of my favorite things either," Bobby had to admit. "Actually, I kind of worry about anyone who counts blood as a favorite thing."

"...Vampires, I guess?" Hurley said.

"Well yeah," Bobby shrugged. "I suppose that's sort of a given. But I don't think there's any here, you know?"

"Yeah, I don't think there are, either," Hurley said. "Which is good, cause it means nobody gets turned into a midnight snack."

"Well-" Bobby frowned a bit. "Vampires are people too. And it's not like all of them drink human blood."

"Yeeeeah," Hurley said. "Gonna have to meet one before I believe that. Sorry dude."

Well that just made the frown go even deeper. Sure, the vampires everyone had talked about from that weird alternate universe had sucked (...pun intended), but the ones Sookie had talked about? Their situation hit pretty close to home. "Maybe you've met one already. It's not like they have big signs on them that say 'hey look I'm a vampire'. They're probably pretty good at blending in, you know."

Hurley thought about that a second, and nodded. "Just kinda... you know. That whole other universe thing."

"Yeah, I heard a bit about that," Bobby said. "I just don't think you should label a whole race as bad or evil or whatever based on the actions of a few."

"Dude, you're not secretly a vampire, are you?" Hurley said.

"Me?" Bobby said. "No." Just a mutant, but he wasn't gonna mention that part.

"Just... seemed like you were taking it kinda personal," Hurley said. "Sorry, dude. Guess getting killed kinda made me bitter."

Well yeah. He really kinda was. "You got better," he pointed out.

"Except the real me over there didn't," Hurley said. "So, okay, I'll buy that maybe not all vampires are like that. But doesn't mean I want to go out and meet em, yet."
