There were several ways to indicate fall was upon you. Changing leaves, of course, would be the obvious one. You could look at a calendar, which was just a boring way to do it. Or you could check to see if Chuck Bass was wearing his trademark scarf. Which he was. It truly was the greatest time of the year.

Yep, scarf around his neck and a joint in one hand, Chuck was laid back in a chair reading Les Liaisons dangereuses for about the tenth time. It was the only way he could keep his French in check without, you know, actually going to France.

[Look, it was nippy when I went to go get the mail earlier. I declare it fall. Post is open, of course]

"Someone's been paying attention to radio," Chuck said with a smirk. "It'll take more than church to turn me from my evil ways."

"Yeah, what's up with that all the sudden?" Hannibal wondered. "There some kind of treasure in that church?"

Chuck shrugged. "I like listening to the guy there talk."

"Fair enough." He knew better than to push Chuck. "Thought it was some secret strip club or something."

"No, that is what is behind the White Castle in Brooklyn," Chuck said. "The church is just a regular old church that's run by an angel."

"An...actual angel?" Hannibal said, eyebrow going up. He wasn't too surprised but still.

"Yep. He doesn't have a halo, if that's what you're thinking," Chuck said. "He says he has wings but I've never seen them."

"Why not?" Hannibal wondered. "Never asked or is he just shy?"

"I've never asked," Chuck said. "I don't think Castiel gets shy. He's not big on the emotions."

Which would be why Chuck liked him so much.

"Think if he ever shows you, you'll ask for a ride?"

Chuck grinned. "Fuck, no. He's an angel, not a sideshow attraction."

"Wouldn't even think of asking, huh?" Hannibal asked. "Not even a thought?"

"No, I've never thought of asking and I don't really want to," he said. "Now I've thought of other kinds of rides involving Castiel but I wouldn't ask him about those either."

"He's not old and like...Jesus looking?" He'd seen tv movies, okay?

"Oh, he's old. He just doesn't look it," he said. "He's got this whole five o' clock shadow, deep voiced thing going on."

That...didn't sound half bad.

"Geez and here I thought all angels were either women or pretentious men," Hannibal said. "I'd start going to church but well...I don't wanna. He doesn't make it boring?"

"Well it's been keeping my attention," he said with a shrug. "It's not like he's spouting crap from the Bible. He just rambles on about whatever is bothering him that week. And Arthur's always in there so I guess if I do get really bored I can glare at him for fun."

"And he can't really pound your face in a church," Hannibal added. "Or, well, he could but then you could hang 'going to Hell' over his head."

"You'd be surprised what it takes to get into hell," Chuck said. "Turns out if you confess all the crap you've done and be sorry about it then you're pretty much cool to go to heaven."

"It's that simple?" Hannibal said, sounding a little disbelieving. "Really?"

"Hey, I was just as surprised as you were when I found out," Chuck said. "Turns out God has more important things to worry about than us."

"Strange," he said and scrubbed a hand through his hair. "How the hell do people end up in Hell then if that's easy?"

Chuck shrugged. "I never asked. And if I did I'm sure I'd get a vague answer."

"Weird." He wasn't going to think too hard on that lest his head start hurting. "Please tell me you sing hymns."

He didn't think so, not with how Chuck described this guy but still, had to ask.

"Hell no, there's no singing," Chuck said. "I don't even do the cracker thing."
