The whole incident with the hair had almost caused Cal to forget exactly what day this was. Monday. That meant more than just having to work at the library. That meant Rumor Girl, on the TV, and Cal was there.

Pretending to ignore it while cooking food. No burgers this time, but something just as good and Greek and handy for TV watching: souvlaki.

"I was faint from hunger," Jaina said. "So, see, perfect timing. And, thank you. See, I do that without being asked."

"Well, at least you've got one of the priorities straight," Cal said, tilting his head at her a little. "What's got you so faint, anyway?"

"Heading out for a mission this week, so I get to OD on training, and that means I have to actually remember to eat," she said, trying the souvlaki. "This is good."

"Of course it's good," Cal said with a grin. "And, yeah, forgetting to eat and passing out from malnourishment sort of makes the training superfluous. What kind of mission? Or is it top secret stuff?"

"It's the kind of secret where I can't share details but can say I'm going, and that I'm almost definitely going to have to shoot at stuff," she replied. There was no 'almost' about it.
