Fifth Floor Common Room [Wednesday evening]

Sookie had gotten phone calls from both her grandmother and Tara earlier about the coming weekend. Gran had said she definitely wouldn't be able to come due to a recent storm taking out some pretty heavy damage on the house, so finances were limited. Tara had said she'd do what she could, but to expect a visitor no matter what. That was...cryptic and weird, but Sookie had kind of dismissed it as Tara being Tara.

In any case, to cheer herself up a little, she'd moved out to the common room and was whipping up a batch of chocolate-chip cookies. Partly because they made her feel better, and partly because she owed them to someone, so it'd be a good idea to have them on hand. She turned the TV onto Squee, because even if she couldn't sing, other kids could, and they'd make her happier. Plus, fake baby storylines were always amazing.

"One's one of the teachers' wives, but it's not real," Sookie said, wide-eyed. "It's all in her head. I didn't even know that was a thing!"

"Oh my god," Tara said, eyes big. "I n-never heard of that either. So you just decide you're pregnant and then you start -- start throwing upo and everything?"

She nodded solemnly. "It's called a hysterical pregnancy. You decide you want a baby and if you want it bad enough, you'll just kinda test as positive."

"That's really, really freaky," Tara decided uneasily, as if she were ever in any danger of becoming pregnant, hysterically or otherwise. "Has s-she told her husband? On the show."

"He thinks she's really pregnant," Sookie said, shaking her head. "I think she's gonna steal the other girl's baby."

Tara made a wide-eyed face of disapproval. "That's so wrong. And th-that poor other girl."

"But there's singing!" Sookie added quickly. "Lots of it!"

And sunshine was restored to Tara's world. She was easy, sometimes.

"I'll watch for the singing and ignore the sad baby stuff."
