Third floor common room [early afternoon]

Mat arose at the crack of noon, as was his habit, took one look out the window, realized that snow was nothing he particularly wanted to deal with today, and headed down to the common room instead to look sad until someone made lunch for him.

Besides, company was always welcome especially since it would bring mistletoe. He flopped into a chair and began pushing random buttons on the remote control.

No, he hadn't yet figured out how to get the television to turn on.

"Hey, Mat," Zayne said, walking into the common room, completely unaware of any plantlife this may have generated. "...What are you doing?"

"Waiting for someone to come and fix me breakfast," Mat said with an easy grin. "Hello."

"Are you going to count on me for breakfast? Because with my luck the entire kitchen might explode," Zayne pointed out.

"I can make cereal and milk," Mat said, "if we get really desperate."

He blinked. "Where did that plant come from?"

"On days like this I miss the desert even more than usual," Leto announced as he entered the common room. Staying indoors seemed like the best option, and that was his plan for the day.

"I'm glad that I don't have to dig from here to the barn like my da would make me at home," Mat replied with a smile.

"It seems like staying here is an advantage, in that respect," Leto replied. "I had never seen snow before I came here, or rain." He remembered, yes, but that was different.

"It's been a long time," Mat said. "We're a little...stuck...in summer right now."

"You're not a fan of changing seasons, I take it?" Zayne asked.

"My homeworld is a desert," Leto replied. "Seasons are quite different, and never involve rain or snow." Sandstorms were different, after all, even if they were more dangerous.

"That makes sense," Zayne said. "I've been to worlds with snow, but it doesn't fall too much on the worlds where I've lived for a while."

This was probably due to the ecological devastation that came with turning entire planets into giant cities, of course. "It's a little weird for me to see it fall regularly."

Triela came in from outside, all bundled up and with a steaming cup of tea cupped between her hands. She looked around and offered Mat a nod.

"Hello, Triela," Leto greeted her with a rather cheerful grin. "Not taking any risks with the tea?"

"I just didn't feel like making any myself this morning," she shrugged. Not that she'd trust tea from him.

"Hello," Mat said with a smile. "I believe it's warm enough in here."

"Warm enough for what?" Triela asked, quirking an eyebrow in something that might be amusement.

"You look like you're managing to keep warm," Zayne noted.

"It's not too terribly cold out there," Triela shrugged with a small smile.

She'd been down to town in the snow for training, but she had a while before she had to go back, and Rose was ready to hang out somewhere where there might be food. "Hey guys," she said, making her way into the Common Room. "Anyone made any food?"

What? It was a priority.

"I'm afraid you are out of luck," Leto replied, giving her an amused look.

Aww, sad face. Well, that turned quickly into a grin back at him. "Had to ask," she said. "What's up, Leto?"

"No. But the kitchen hasn't exploded, either, so at least we have that going for us," Zayne noted.

"So you haven't set foot in it or anything?" Rose teased.

"I can make cereal," Mat said, "but that's my limit."

"I bet you could expand that to sandwiches if you really tried," Rose replied, trying to look totally serious.
