Third floor common room [early afternoon]

Mat arose at the crack of noon, as was his habit, took one look out the window, realized that snow was nothing he particularly wanted to deal with today, and headed down to the common room instead to look sad until someone made lunch for him.

Besides, company was always welcome especially since it would bring mistletoe. He flopped into a chair and began pushing random buttons on the remote control.

No, he hadn't yet figured out how to get the television to turn on.

"I'm betting our firefighters will step it up and make us proud," Rose said. "The troopers have to put on all that weird armour."

"Are you sure they don't always wear the armor?" Zayne asked. "I don't think I've ever seen them in casual wear."

Rose laughed. "Would you recognise them if they were in casual wear?"

"Well... no. But that doesn't actually prove anything," Zayne pointed out.

"Proves that you don't have a clue if you've seen them in casual wear or not," she replied.

"I still don't think I have," Zayne said. "I could recognize them through the Force, after all."

No he couldn't.

"How do you recognise someone through the Force?" Rose asked.

"It's... kind of a psychic thing. It works best if you know somebody really well or you're just really strong, but you can just kind of sense they're there, even if they're in disguise," Zayne said. "Or sometimes you just get lucky and you can sense it without any help. I think that could happen."

"So you're counting on being lucky and just happening to sense a trooper whenever he walks by?" Rose mocked. "I don't think that's going to happen."

"I wouldn't say I'm counting on it. More like 'hoping for it, just to prove a point,'" Zayne admitted.

"Sounds like a well thought out strategy to me."

"Does that mean you're changing your mind from the firemen to the troopers?" Zayne asked.

"Hell, no, it means you haven't begun to see the teasing I'm planning for that strategy," she laughed. "Also firemen forever!"

"How scared should I be of the teasing?" Zayne asked.

"Well, I probably won't drop a bucket of water on your head or anything," Rose told him oh-so-reassuringly.

"That makes me feel slightly better about it," Zayne said.

"I thought it might," she agreed. "So nothing to worry about."

"Especially since I am used to the teasing by now," Zayne pointed out.

"Aww, that's too bad," she smirked. "I'll have to work harder then."

"Is it possible for you to tease harder than you already do?" Zayne asked, astonished.

"Hell, yes," Rose decided right then. "Why? Wanna see?"
