Fifth Floor Common Room | Late Morning | Friday | January 8

There wasn't a lot to do today. That fact didn't particularly bother Bod, though. He'd learned to find entertainment in the smallest things so making his way down to the common room seemed like a logical place to start.

Of course, once there, a few options were presented. He could find something on television to watch. He could spend a few minutes flipping through the channels to find something good to watch and the probably settle on something boring (he'd spent time in hotels, he knew how television worked) or he could try and make himself something to eat.

Now, that option made him hesitate. While he'd been in the graveyard, Silas or Miss Lupescu had done the majority of the food getting. Since leaving, he'd mostly stuck with fast food and prepared meals. This would almost be cooking.

Okay, no it wouldn't. There was cereal (something called Captain Crunch to be exact) and Bod figured he could manage a bowl, milk, pouring and a spoon. Still, it was more than he tended to do. With that done, he was free to find something boring on television.

[common rooms are open places!]

She'd have laughed in his face if she didn't already have the impression he'd been some kind of sheltered; as it was Katchoo let out a snort. "Say they make it easy on you, and there's no problem with being fair about the judging. We're talking someone who's a monster and damn proud of it, and admits it. The kind of person who thinks the entire world is theirs to use however the hell they want, and screw anyone who wants different."

"In a certain way," she clarified. In one manner of speaking people like that were always going to live on. Damn shame, that.

Katchoo gave a noncommittal grunt by way of response; the answer didn't piss her off exactly, but she couldn't say it pleased her much. "You're nicer than I am, kid, that's all I got to say."

"Depending on who you ask." If you were paying attention, a smile flickered across Katchoo's face for a fraction of a second. "I'd say nah, and keep it that way, will ya?"

"Assuming I get the gig again this term, just don't let it happen on the days I'm on radio." That was actually spoken in a lighter tone; Katchoo had a sense of humor too. She just tended to let it out in weird ways. "I don't really listen to it most of the week so you're safe then."

"You got me there, kid." And look, an actual chuckle this time. Hey, the coffee was almost ready; that boosted her mood a bit. "We could keep it that way. Hear that's kinda impolite, but hey."

"Yeah, sure. If I bother," and again, she was more teasing than actually irritable now. "Hell, I don't even know if you're one of the new kids or just someone I never bothered to meet."

"You're a pain in the ass," Katchoo informed him more or less good-naturedly. "And since I don't do the blah blah where are you from yadda yadda what classes are you taking kind of conversation, you're right. Not a damn bit of difference one way or the other."

Although she did wonder where that morbid little streak of his came from.
