Second floor common room, Saturday afternoon

After spending the morning reading celebrity gossip mags online, Priestly was all set to be a little more social. He put his kilt on over a pair of ripped jeans, used every dye color in his collection to achieve a banded technicolor mohawk (and a little bit of stripe on his goatee), put in a call to Dinah, and hit the common room to whip up a couple hot subs.

After all, if he was going to go about setting fashion trends, he needed to have something that might draw people in, right?

Yeah, and okay, he was pretty hungry to boot. What? He was a growing teenage boy.

[ooc: open, chachacha.]

"Oh?" Jonas raised an eyebrow at that. He wasn't quite the age Jonas had been when he'd been given his Assignment but he was still young. "What sort of job, if I can ask?"

"Which is why you don't need any help," Jonas said, putting two and two together albeit a little slower than most. "I knew people who did that back home. For awhile, I wanted to as well but then I got a bicycle and...forgot about anything but that."

"We didn't have those." The thought of driving was honestly terrifying. "And I don't think anyone wants me to attempt it either. The damage would be incredible."

"I think perhaps I should be a passenger before I attempt driving," he said and chuckled. "I've never actually been in a car. I've ridden a bus before but I've gathered they're a little different."

"Do you drive?" he asked. "Not here, obviously, since no one can but I assume some people here have to know how."

"I almost tried a cab during the trip to New York." And then he'd seen how some of the cabs were driven and begged off. "Walking isn't so bad. You can cross long distances...if you're patient and in shape."

"Even if walking is good for your heart?" Jonas knew the attempts at driving were inevitable but the mental images of him sitting behind the wheel of a car were terrifying.

"And I suppose a bicycle would only be a small improvement?" Jonas sighed and then laughed. "I'm delaying the inevitable I know but driving's pretty advanced."

[identity profile] see-beyond.livejournal.com 2010-01-10 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
"That's how I'm going to start." He nodded because it seemed the easiest way to learn. "And make the driver promise to go slow. And hope no one thinks I'm too backwards for it."

Jonas decided not to say he didn't really know what that was. Instead, he asked, "Perhaps I'll start out with those things in town. The rickshaws. They look fairly safe. And since there's not much else on the island that doesn't involve climbing down the side of a building..."

He'd heard of it happening and knew it just wasn't for him. Too high, too many variables, not enough knowledge of the whole thing.

"All right." Gaining this experience was going to take more time than he'd originally thought. "So, my options seem to be not trying or going to the mainland and finding a cab. While I doubt I'll be driving anytime soon, I can't see the harm in riding a cab."

"I'd gathered there isn't as much traffic due to the smaller city size." At least, that was what he'd deduced with his very limited context. "And the buildings aren't as large."
