5th Floor Common Room, Monday Early Evening

Really, she ought to be asleep despite the ridiculously early hour. A weekend spent with little sleep and using loads of energy meant by all rights that she should be dead to the world at the moment. Ino had spent about an hour after her last class staring up at the ceiling before giving that idea up for a lost cause and wandered out to the common room to see what she could find that was entertaining enough to keep her from getting bored.

Normally Ino wasn't much of one for movies, but poking around turned up The Continuous Tale and it looked interesting enough for her to stare at while she tried to convince herself to unwind enough to actually sleep. Score!

That decided on, she made popcorn (because if she was going to do this movie thing, she was going to do it right) and curled up on the couch, hitting play. And, okay, maybe snuggle into a blanket as well. That counted as part of the whole movie thing, right? Right?

It totally did. She could even be convinced to share, if asked nicely.

[Ooopen as a common room is, yes!]

"Or something. Not that that's ever happened to me or anything," Roy said quickly.

Helen frowned. That sounded a bit odd. "Have you met creatures like that?" she asked.
exspeedydotcom: ([comic] no)

"No," he said. Well, it was true. Kind of. They hadn't looked like the gremlins from this weekend. But they had started shooting lasers out of their eyes after Wally told them to do their worst.

They hadn't let Wally talk for the rest of the weekend.

"No," Roy said again. "I didn't meet them. But I saw them. You know. On the news."

[identity profile] elephantgadget.livejournal.com 2010-01-26 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
"The news?" Helen looked a bit horrified. "I would not have thought such creatures actually existed. They must have done tremendous amounts of damage."

"Just a couple of blocks," Roy said. This was considered 'minor' in his universe, yes. "The Teen Titans got the situation under control pretty quick. I think they were from another dimension or planet or whatever."

[identity profile] elephantgadget.livejournal.com 2010-01-26 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
"I... I'm sorry for your loss," Helen said sincerely. "Even a few blocks is a great loss too a place."
exspeedydotcom: (say what now?)

Roy shrugged. "Everyone's insurance paid out, I'm sure." It had been in Miami, too, where they didn't have the ridiculous premiums of, say, Metropolis. "It kept the construction industry busy for a few months."

[identity profile] elephantgadget.livejournal.com 2010-01-26 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
"I can imagine," Helen said thoughtfully. "I suppose there are always those who benefit in some way from tragedies - even if that is not there intent."
exspeedydotcom: (say what now?)

[personal profile] exspeedydotcom 2010-01-26 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
"I wouldn't say it was a tragedy," Roy said. Wow, this girl was serious. "I mean, no one died, the thingers got beat, the day was saved! By the Teen Titans." Yes, he had to specify.

[identity profile] elephantgadget.livejournal.com 2010-01-26 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
At least she wasn't being obnoxious at the moment. Things could be much worse then simple seriousness. But still... things with lasers for eyes destroying city blocks!

"I'm glad they were there then," Helen said. "Though I'm afraid I never heard of them before.

Roy thought about that. "Well, yeah, that makes sense. I think--from what I've heard so far here--that not all the universes would have 'em, you know?"

[identity profile] elephantgadget.livejournal.com 2010-01-26 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
"True," she said, nodding. "I have traveled to a number of the worlds and they can be most different from one another."
exspeedydotcom: (happy Roy is happy)

Was she an alien? Aliens were cool. "Yeah?" Roy asked. "What brings you to ours? Just school, or...what?"

[identity profile] elephantgadget.livejournal.com 2010-01-26 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
"I was... well, I was given a chance between coming here willingly or being exiled from my world. Again." She sighed. "I chose to come in the hopes that one day they'll let me return."

"Yikes," Roy said. "I hope so, too. That sucks, I'm sorry," he said.

[identity profile] elephantgadget.livejournal.com 2010-01-26 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
"Thank you," she said quietly. "For now I'm just trying to learn what I can here. I'm afraid I'm not the best at social situations, but I'm trying to learn that too."
exspeedydotcom: (happy Roy is happy)

[personal profile] exspeedydotcom 2010-01-26 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
Roy smiled at her and said, "You seem to be doing okay to me. Have you been here long?"

[identity profile] elephantgadget.livejournal.com 2010-01-26 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
"Tonight does seem to be a particularly good night for me," she admitted. "Perhaps while things are going well I should apologize in advance for when I become unpleasant? I've been here about a year and a half. And yet, still so much seems odd to me."

[personal profile] exspeedydotcom 2010-01-26 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Geez, I wish I could've banked apologies in advance," Roy said wryly, adjusting the bag of peas on his shoulder. "I'll remember that for later," he promised.

[identity profile] elephantgadget.livejournal.com 2010-01-26 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
"Thank you," she said with a bit of a laugh. "I may hold you to that."
