5th Floor Common Room, Monday Early Evening

Really, she ought to be asleep despite the ridiculously early hour. A weekend spent with little sleep and using loads of energy meant by all rights that she should be dead to the world at the moment. Ino had spent about an hour after her last class staring up at the ceiling before giving that idea up for a lost cause and wandered out to the common room to see what she could find that was entertaining enough to keep her from getting bored.

Normally Ino wasn't much of one for movies, but poking around turned up The Continuous Tale and it looked interesting enough for her to stare at while she tried to convince herself to unwind enough to actually sleep. Score!

That decided on, she made popcorn (because if she was going to do this movie thing, she was going to do it right) and curled up on the couch, hitting play. And, okay, maybe snuggle into a blanket as well. That counted as part of the whole movie thing, right? Right?

It totally did. She could even be convinced to share, if asked nicely.

The whole 'not her floor' thing didn't really matter to Angela when she was looking for entertainment, and she was perfectly comfortable wandering in one floor up and dropping down into one of the arm chairs near Ino.

"Oh, I remember this one!" It wasn't that often people were watching movies she knew from when she was little. Time differences weren't always good for that.

A moment later she added a belated, "Hey Ino."

Helen nodded to her. "Hello." She wasn't sure if she'd ever met her before, but since she was working on the whole getting out more thing, she thought it only right to reach out.

"There was a fuzzy flying thing on the cover," she answered, as way of explanation for why she'd picked it up. "And the title sounded interesting. Is it any good? I like it so far."

Which was high praise for Ino and movies, really.

She blinked away from the screen. "Hiii. Did you want some popcorn?"

Even though Helen's room was now on the fourth floor, she tended to gravitate back to her old common room. Tonight the smell of popcorn drew her and she nodded when she saw one of the girls from the ridiculous class on difficult women.

"Hello," she said politely. "May I watch with you?"

"Absolutely," Ino said, shooting Helen a smile. "Come in, sit down, steal some popcorn."

Or have it offered, but stealing was more fun to say.

For once not laden with baked goods (because she hadn't had dinner yet or even decided what she wanted), Francine wandered in at the sound of the familiar movie theme.

"Hi, guys!" She glanced at the screen while heading for the smell of popcorn couch. "Ooh, good, it's not too far in. You haven't hit the scary parts yet."

Ino shifted over so she wasn't taking up half the couch--it was just polite, yes.

"Hi! There's scary parts?" Ino echoed. "Is that a good thing or a bad thing?"

Or maybe an interesting thing, really, but she hadn't seen this movie before.

...Ino really needed to watch more movies, yes.

"The scary parts?" Helen asked. "Are they very disturbing?"

Robin had so far managed to not quote along with the movie. He was very proud of himself.

He knew the film well enough that he could take the time to make some cocoa in the kitchen and not miss anything.

"Who wants cocoa?"

"How scary?" Alice asked, waving at her former roomie. "This seems to be a children's movie, and most stories aimed at children have their uglier bits prettied up."

Even stories that happened to children. Not that she was bitter on that front, no.

There were worse reasons to stop in a common room filled with cute girls than 'it was on the way to the roof, right?'

It was even a believable excuse, clad in that heavy jacket like Warren was.

... Yes, he'd made a handwavey mad dash to the Perk this morning to retrieve it, once he'd realized that the snarling green things were gone.

"Oh, wow," he commented as he strode into the room and leaned over a little to see the television better, "this movie is ancient."

"Is it?" Helen said curiously. "I thought it was the black and white movies that were the old ones."

"It's pretty good so far," Ino said earnestly, eyebrows raising as she put a face to the guy-with-wings who'd called her by mistake.

"Nothing wrong with ancient if you don't know it is."

"Please don't say that," Angela said, only half-joking, and pulling a face to go with her laugh. "I remember when this came out and everything."

"Hey, Warren! Want cocoa?" Since she'd helped Robin make it, Francine was making free with the offering.

"One should hope you're not disparaging all things ancient," Alice said, setting her chin in mock-severity. "We decrepit ruins don't appreciate such nonsense."

Roy walked into the room, said, "Yo," to the occupants, and headed for the fridge without pausing. He came back holding a bag of frozen peas to his right shoulder with his left hand. Ahhhh. He carefully settled into a chair and asked, "Oh, hey, what are we watching?"

"The Continuous Tale!" Ino chirped. "Which is apparently ancient history to some people but I ain't never seen it so we're watching it. Hi!"

Also, Ino had been here first and had the remote.

"Are you injured?" Alice asked. "Or are you attempting to absorb the peas through your shoulder?"

It would be a rather intriguing way of getting nutrition.

A weetiny fuzzy frog, wearing weetiny fuzzy slippers, and a weetiny fuzzy bath robe came looking for a not so weetiny, definitely not fuzzy cup of hot cocoa.

Then he saw what was on tv. "Oooh!" he squeed. "I love this movie!"

"Hiii Robin," Ino said, smiling. "Apparently a lot of people do? It's a classic?"

Not that Ino had known that, but hey, sure. Classic.

Alice hadn't been to her common room in ages. She'd killed some gross creatures this weekend, and taken a horribly long shower, and now she was lingering in the doorway in her pajamas, trying to process the goings-on on the screen.

"So ... he's reading the story of what happens to the other boy?" she asked. "Why didn't they just film the other boy's story?"

Alice was apparently new to certain narrative conventions.

"Well," she offered, looking over with a bit of a grin. "The boy reading is kinda getting--sucked in as well? Like, it was raining in his world and in the book at the same time. So I think they've got stories that are blending into each other. Hi!"

"What sort of creature is that?" Aravis wondered as she wandered in and sat down, gesturing to the television as she did so. "The flying one."

"A luckdragon," she answered. "At least, that's what the movie said. It still looks more like a flying fuzzy dog to me."

After a weekend of making and using bolas against supernatural creatures, Bruce figured it would be a good idea to get back to working on a more public persona.

And so he made his way into the common room. "Evening, everyone. What's on?" he asked.

Because of course he didn't know movies that every kid should have seen.

"The Continuous Tale," Ino answered, grinning. "Hi there! Apparently it's a classic, but it's all new to me."
