4th Floor Common Room - Monday Evening

Edmund wasn't sure why he felt compelled to cook an ever-growing pile of grilled cheese sandwiches, but the pan was still hot and he kept making more. They were always good cold, he reasoned, and really, doing something was better than watching the very strange, badly dubbed Japanese game show on television.

The smell of grilled cheese wafted out of the room and down the hall. Mmm grilled cheese. There might have even been cans of tomato soup in the cupboards.

Pulled into the room by the siren song of food, Merlin looked longingly frowned at the pile. "Are you actually going to eat all that?"

"You could always pretend you're trying to throw some sort of party with them," Merlin suggested helpfully as he moved closer to the cheesy goodness.

Claire had trekked up to the fourth floor in search of Jon, but the wonderful smells emanating from the common room distracted her from her goal.

She was surprised to find the source of them though.

"Hi," she said, walking in and leaning a hip against the counter. "I'm Claire. I don't think we've met, though you look exactly like my boyfriend's roommate."

Sometimes she thought she was funny.

Claire wasn't sure if he was talking about himself or Jon given how little she had seen of either of them lately but she smirked.

"That's the one."

Beauty was squawking hungrily as Menolly came into the Common Room. She was trying to shush the fire lizard, but since there'd been none of the usual meat she kept in the second floor Common Room, Beauty was getting annoyed.

She hurried to the kitchen area, smiling apologetically at the other people. Beauty, however, thought the cheese sandwiches looked good and launched herself off Menolly's shoulder to land near the plate.

"Thank you," Menolly said, smiling at him. "You don't have to feed my fire lizard though. She's just a greedy guts today."

Beauty chirped once as she stretched her neck towards a sandwich.

...there was a tiny, tiny dragon in the room.

And a girl, but the dragon was what Merlin was focusing on right now. Because it was a dragon. And he had pointless powers in that regard, but only after some convoluted plotting.

A tiny golden dragon whose eyes were green tinging on red and spinning fairly rapidly. She was hungry, thank you, and her human wasn't getting meat out of the refrigerator fast enough.

"Um--" Look, the majority of his interactions with dragons involved vague talk of 'destiny' and 'kill that person, you idiot' and then a bit of fire being spit at him. "There's a dragon there."

Yes, Merlin. Thank you for pointing out the obvious.

It was hard not to notice Beauty, but Sookie did what she could not to, you know, gawk. "What a pretty...lizardy thing!" she managed, trying not to stare and be rude.

Beauty loooved the attention and preened for her new observer.

"Her name is Beauty," Menolly said, smiling at the other girl. "She's a fire lizard."

"She's well-named," Sookie said with a grin. "I've never seen a fire lizard before. Is that like a little dragon?" Because that would be her guess. Not that she'd ever seen a dragon.

"Are you feeding an army?" Sookie drawled curiously, having come downstairs in search of company.

"No, people here are pretty good about tellin' the truth about food," she assured him with a grin, helping herself to a sandwich. "Haven't seen you since summer, feels like -- how've you been, Edmund?" Sookie was good at remembering names after she'd gotten them wrong at least once.

Alice's nose led her to the fourth floor common room, and where her nose led, the rest eagerly followed.

"That's rather a lot of cheese sandwiches," she noted. "Are you expecting a crowd?"

[identity profile] notyourpawn.livejournal.com 2010-02-09 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
"Perhaps you willed us to come, entirely without your knowledge," Alice laughed, reaching into the cupboards to get herself a plate. "Sending signals out across channels. 'Come immediately, for I have cheese sandwiches.'"
