Tanned and rested from a vacation--where no evil mutants or natural disasters struck--Jean was going to settle in for whatever she could find on TV tonight.

It ended up being something about kids living and loving in New Jersey.

"Hmm. Maybe we should make common rooms a no-fist-pumping-zone," Layla commented as she wandered into the room carrying her favorite book.

"In between making idiots of themselves and giving a bad name to the Jersey Coast," Layla said as she flopped on the couch. "I miss the beach."

"I'm sure it'll be just as nice here in the summer."

"Probably," Layla shrugged. "Though summer isn't too bad around here. Plus the summer classes should be fun."

"Do people really stick around for them that much after graduating?" Jean asked, trying not to stare at the orange.

"Oh, sure," Layla as she kicked off her shoes and stretched her legs out. "Either for TA duty or whatever community project they come up with. People complain about the island but they never want to leave."

"It's nice here," Jean replied, looking around. "But it's not really home, you know?"

"Oh, I'm sure you'd rather be back at Xavier's spending time with Scott," Layla said in a way that almost sounded sappy but not quite. "Or maybe hanging out in a nice white hot room. I hear those are nice as well."

"...what?" It was hard to tell which was the more confusing one of that sentence.

"O,h like he doesn't love you from a far," Layla said rolling her eyes. "But he can be a dork at times. Are you heading home after graduation?"

Jean tucked a lock of hair back behind her ear, nodding. "I was thinking about going to college and teaching at the Institute."

"Of course you are," Layla replied. "After all you do have an obligation to help all mutant-kind. Right?"

"What? I walked in and there was fist-pumping," Layla replied. "It's not like I walked in and told everyone to go pleasure themselves."

"I'm Layla Miller," she replied simply. "I know stuff."

"Oh, REALLY?" Kurt asked. "So, you're psychic or something? Or a spy? ...If you're with S.H.I.E.L.D., you can tell me. I'm hip to their scene."

"No on all counts though I did get approached by Nick Fury to join his team," Layla replied with a smirk. "So really I just know stuff."

"USEFUL stuff?" Kurt asked. "Forget Fury -- the X-Men could use you."

"That's what I told Fury's representative. More or less," Layla said stretching out her legs and putting her feet on the coffee table. "I have more of an obligation to help out mutants though I belong more to the X-Factor team."
