Really, it was way too fucking nice to smoke in his room tonight. And honestly, he'd been spending so much time in there, trying to let his bruises heal that he was sick of it. He felt fine, it was warm and he hadn't been up to the roof in awhile. It was the perfect day to do that.

So, after pushing onto the roof, he had a cigarette lit almost immediately before hopping up on the roof's ledge and laying flat on his back, letting the setting sun warm his face. He almost felt relaxed. It'd been a shitty month so far save for a few things but sometimes it was just nice to get some fresh air.

Cigarette smoke notwithstanding.

"Call during the day time," Rose laughed. "They're nocturnal. You won't see a zombie cow around in sunlight."

"I'll do my best," Alex told her, nodding. "You've still got time here. Bother me about this when it's closer."

"Long time yet, yeah," she agreed, tossing her hair back. It wasn't really. "I'll bother you about Effy instead. how's that going?"

"We have sex a lot." Easier to focus on that physical part of things and try and ignore the other stuff between them. "So, I guess it's pretty good."

"Better than not," Rose said. This was when it would be nice to raise an eyebrow. Dammit.

Rose rolled her eyes. "Of course that's what it is. It has nothing to do with feelings or affection or anything."

"Nothing to do with those," he agreed, looking back up at the sky when he said it.

Yeah, that was totally believable.

"Course not," she said. "Feelings are for giiiiiirls."

"Remember, Rose, I'm not capable of those," he said idly, nudging her with his foot. "Empty inside."

Her hand moved over to rest on the top of his foot. "You keep saying that, and I keep not believing you. Funny."

"Yeah, well, you're weird that way," he said and smirked. "Never one to believe the truth."

Rose smirked back at him. "It's like pornography; I know the truth when I see it. Hear it. Whatever."

"That's quite the comparison," Alex said, laughing. "Good one, Rose, way to bring it down to my level."
