4th Floor Common Room, Wednesday Morning
Another day, another... session of staring at the TV while it played motorcross repeats from Precursors know when. Jak was getting bored again, which meant he was five minutes from heading back to Haven to yell at Torn and maybe get a mission out of it.
But that could come later.
Right now, it was motors. And a bag of chips. Jak was a simple man.

"Whatever you're watching sounds loud," he remarked idly as he wandered in. "Which necessarily isn't a bad thing. Just an observation. Good morning."

He was full of helpful clarifications today.

Jak... was not.

"It's not something I'm familiar with," he explained but he found his eyes drawn to the television anyway. "Is it something you do? The motorbike racing?"

"Morning, Jonas. How's it going?"

She reached into the fridge for syrup. "How were yours?"

She vaguely remembered Emma mentioning Beka being a literal terrier. But that felt like weeks ago. "How long has she been a dog?" she asked. "A while now?"
no subject
Honestly, he looked forward to anything that was new. That shouldn't surprise anyone. "And she's been a dog for...over a week now, I think. She was a dog during prom, I'm sure. I didn't attend but I think her roommate took her."

There weren't any on her floor, so she'd gone up a floor to raid the freezer there. "Oh, hey," she said as she entered the room, making herself ignore Jak's throbbing aura. "Racing?"

And then she had to break that beautiful one-word-sentence thing. "There aren't any on my floor, so ... waffles here. And racing."
no subject
...Yeah, Jak still couldn't snarl at Tara.

An uncertain pause. "... don't be way insulted? But you can work the toaster, right?"
She had, after all, experienced Karla's cooking.
no subject
Whether the toaster had been defective before or after Karla had started messing around with it was up for debate, of course.

Fourth floor won out by having the cereal with the tasty little marshmallows in it. Yum!
Grabbing a giant bowl of cereal and a glass of orange juice, Karla was now set to be social. "Kiss kiss," she said, waving her spoon at the other people in the common room before taking her first bite.

But.

...She was sixteen. A measure of self-involvement was par for the course.
"Hey," she replied, once she'd maneuvered a few more of the oat pieces onto her spoon. "Enjoying your car show?"
no subject
Jak was kind of, y'know. Obliged. To point it out.
He didn't exactly need to be told about self-involvement.
"Not cars."
