Trouble with being six, rather than sixteen, was always going to start with the size problem. Mostly the height problem. Everything good always seemed to be kept just out of reach of small hands, and that included a decent breakfast.

Effy didn't really want to starve, but at the same time, there wasn't exactly anyone around to do it all for her.

So she was going to stand and stare up at the higher cupboards, like maybe she could make them relinquish the food in there with just the power of her mind.

Clearly it wasn't going very well.

Raven felt a tiny surge of anger rising within her at insults to herself and Azar, but she quickly forced it away as she'd been taught. "Why are you being so mean?" she asked.
