3rd Floor CR, Sunday Afternoon

Playing with wee Tony the afternoon before had been enough to convince Jack he should watch the entire Space Battles trilogy. It seemed to be valuable cultural knowledge ... and apparently it had a princess tied up while wearing a gold bikini in it.

He ordered a few pizzas in case some of the lurking children needed to be fed, took a slice of pizza with extra cheese, and settled onto the couch in the common room as the DVD started to play.

"What's the matter? Can't you talk?" Momoko smiled at the girl and reached for her hand. "That's okay. My name's Momoko! You can sit with me and we can eat some pizza and I will tell everyone you're my friend and they won't care!"

Florida shook her head in answer to the talking question. She looked in surprise at the hand holding hers, before curling her fingers around Momoko's as well.

Yay, a new friend! Momoko gripped her hand tightly and turned to go back into the main area of the room.

"What kind of pizza do you like? There's lots of different kinds and they're all yummy! Do you like vegabibbles? There are some with vegabibbles and some with pepperoni and even some with just cheese! That's my favourite. Except for cake, but I don't think they make a cake pizza."

Florida was pretty sure they didn't. She liked cheese, and indicated this by grabbing a slice. She looked at Momoko quizzically.

Momoko approved. "We have the same favouritests!"

She grabbed another slice, giggling as some of the cheese tried to hold onto the box. She managed to pull the slice completely from the box without letting go of the other girl's hand.

"See? It's all melty and fun! Wanna watch the movie while we eat?"

That was some quality stretchy cheese. And though she was having a bit of difficulty holding onto the pizza slice with one hand, she didn't let go of Momoko's hand either. She didn't want to hurt her new friend's feelings.

She nodded enthusiastically about the movie. She could hardly believe what she'd seen on the screen so far.

Wee Momoko had no idea what the movie actually was, but it had robots on it and a pretty lady they kept calling princess, even if she wasn't wearing pink or a crown, and that was enough for at least a look!

"Let's sit on the floor and watch! We can pretend it's a picnic and we're at the movies!"

Both were new to Florida. No, wait, now that she thought of it, Mooner had had some picnics with her. She nodded, and plopped down on the floor, letting the pizza rest in her lap.

Momoko sat right beside her and took a big chomp of her pizza. After a few seconds of chewing, she squeezed the other girl's hand and nodded at the screen. "Look! That's the princess! Isn't she pretty? And she's smart too! That's the bestest kind of princess."

Florida was a princess too. She didn't know about pretty, but smart was a definite requirement. Stupid princesses didn't live very long.

She grinned when the Princess grabbed the gun and fought alongside the others.

Yay, her new friend was smiling for real! "Oh! There's the funny yellow robot again! He walks funny, right? Maybe he has his feet on backwards!"

Now Florida was confused. What's a robot? The statue was moving and talking. Was it magic?

Momoko was giggling and turned to see why the other girl wasn't giggling too. "What a matter? You don't think he's funny?" She took another bite of pizza and looked at her questioningly.

Well, maybe a little. She actually found his whining somewhat annoying. But mostly she just couldn't figure out what the hell he was. She looked a Momoko and pointed to him with a questioning look.

Momoko looked from the other girl to the screen. "What's wrong? Don't you know robots can take their legs off? They can! They're all built that way unless they don't got legs. Like that one with wheels. I know all abouts robots! I even got one in my room! It colours and draws and it's a ladybug." She took another bite of pizza.

Florida really wished she could talk right now. But right now the best she could do was put on her best 'buh?' face.

"You don't believe me?" Momoko totally misunderstood. "It's true and after we're done we can go to my room and colour and I can show you my doodley bug robot and you'll see! Okay?"

Perhaps a better explanation would follow. So she nodded, smiling.
