Fifth Floor Common Room, Monday Night

Tonight was the season finale of Rumor Gal, so of course Raven had commandeered the common room to watch it. It was going to be the perfect distraction from her father and Sebastian and strange boys on roofs telling her she was going to turn evil.

Unless the characters' actions got her all riled up. That could be a problem.

"Of course," Raven beamed, passing Hoshi the popcorn. "I cannot wait to see what happens."

"The only problem is that I missed last week's episode," said Hoshi, helping herself to some popcorn. "Will I be able to follow along?"

"Oh, no," Raven said, "so much happened! Last week was very good! Several plots were exposed."

"I can probably watch it later," said Hoshi. "I was in too much of a fog to pay attention last week."

"What is wrong?" Raven asked, excitement momentarily forgotten. "Can I help in some way?"

"Not unless you can find me a way to get to Santa Monica in Hurley's universe," said Hoshi with a sigh. "He went home and was in some kind of accident. Then he sent out a email to say that he wasn't coming back to Fandom like he promised."

"Perhaps I could teleport there?" Raven said fretfully. "I am able to move between dimensions, though I have never been there so it might be more difficult. Hurley is my friend, too, and if he has been hurt, I can heal him."

"Getting to the right place isn't the problem. It's getting to the right time, apparently," said Hoshi. "And Portalocity is telling me that everything they've got going there is booked."

Raven nodded, frowning. "Time is much more difficult to move through," she said. "Not impossible, but very difficult."

"I think for now, the wait-and-see approach is best," said Hoshi. "I'm worried, but I don't want to make any rash decisions."

"If I can help in any way," Raven offered, "please tell me. I did not realize there was trouble. I am not good with email."

"I could always show you how to use email," said Hoshi. "It's really the best way to keep in touch."

"I would appreciate that," Raven said, nodding. "We have no technology in Azarath, just magic. I have figured out many things without much difficulty, but computers are confusing."

"You'll be amazed how useful it can be," said Hoshi. "For instance, when the kids on Rumor Gal get messages on their phones? I can show you a phone that will allow you to do the same thing."

"I know about text messages," Raven said, "though I do not use my phone often since I can just walk to talk to people, or teleport if they are further away."

Hoshi nodded. "Email is sort of like a text message, except it can be longer. And where I come from, people can't teleport from place to place yet so we rely on email to communicate across distances. I actually used to have a pen pal in Australia when I was 9. I always loved getting these emails from her describing faraway places."

"I could send emails to Joan while she is away on her trip, could I not?" Raven said brightly.

"And then she could email you back with pictures," said Hoshi, smiling.

"Oh, yes," Raven said. "I would like to see the places she has gone. I know so little of the world outside Fandom."

"I didn't go on the trip because I wasn't crazy about leaving Fandom so soon," said Hoshi. "Though I am wondering on what I am missing. I told Joan that she has to tell me everything because I need distractions."
