Magic/Support Reserves Meeting, Main Campfire, Wednesday After Classes

In theory, Tara knew everyone who came to a Reserves meeting was her friend. That theory wasn't helping her case of the jitters about leading the meeting as much as she'd like. She couldn't look at the group as a whole, or at Kennedy, or at Karla, Raven and Emmett; she was sure she'd completely lose the ability to speak if she did. She settled for glancing between her notecards and a neutral point on the ground a few feet from the altar she stood beside as she spoke, talking slowly and softly so as to minimize the chance she would stutter.

"Hi," she said. "My demonstration today is mostly for the magic reserves side, so, uh ... support people, if you want some extra chips or something, we have plenty? I'll be done in a minute."

She brushed her hair out of her face, pausing for a moment before continuing. "What we're talking about today is hiding magic. Th-there are plenty of times when you might need to do that, even if you're from a world where everybody uses magic. Say you have a parent or roommate who doesn't like that you're a witch. Or you're in danger and you don't want the people you're working against to know everything you're doing. Or even if you just need to clean up your workspace really fast.

She attempted a smile. "I'd like to hear ideas from the rest of you about what you might do in one of those situations, but first I'm going to show you a spell I've been working on. It's makes all enchanted implements and magical supplies invisible. It, um, was meant to make it so people couldn't see demons. I changed it up a little, 'cause you kinda want to see demons if they're around." She felt like she was babbling, and idly wondered if, as a witch, she'd count as a 'magical supply' for purposes of the spell. Some part of her felt it would be nice if she did.

She shoved that wish to the back of her mind as she poured a little reddish powder from a vial into her palm. "I'm invoking a goddess. The spell s-sounds sort of spooky, but ... a whole bunch of them do. If this works, the book, crystal and herbs on my altar will disappear."

She closed her eyes for a second to focus, then raised her voice again. "Blind Cadria, desolate queen, work my will upon them all. Your curse upon these tools, my obeisance to you." She blew the powder over the altar.

It would be hard to say if she opened her eyes again, since, an instant after she'd performed the rite, Tara seemingly vanished into thin air. Her voice came from above the altar. "That's it," she said, sounding disappointed the book, crystal and herbs were still in place. "... guys?"

[OOC: Up early to maximize time for invisibility! Subthread for post-spell support and recovery here. Edit: Invisible people are free to move around the island, and will return to visibility when the spell breaks no matter where they are.]

Cookies and juice! Yay! No better combination!

Except maybe certain cookies and milk. It was something to ponder while munching.

Kennedy didn't typically miss a Magic Reserves meeting to begin with, and between the interest of Reserves cooperation and the need to do her Supportive Girlfriend thing she definitely wasn't missing this one. She was looking forward to the demonstration; a spell like this could be useful. How was that gonna go wrong?

Cassidy was definitely here and interested in seeing the demonstration. She knew that she could just vanish her items if she needed to hide them, but she was curious to see how people here would take care of a problem like this.

She had some juice and was paying attention to what was going on.

Leda was in a decent mood this afternoon, as evidenced by her whistling an old sea chanty.

Harper nibbled on cookies while waiting for the demonstration to begin.

Alex helped herself to a drink and wondered what Tara would have for them this week. She was looking forward to the demonstration and it seemed like each meeting held more and more excitement for her.

Well, of course Jono was there. Where else would he be on a Wednesday afternoon?

... Hanging around the edges, looking cranky, of course.

Diana had tried to type up her hair in a neat braid in the morning. Hence her bad mood and messy pony-tail. The lack of cat was a separate topic.

Rinoa was here, and in an especially good mood since she had gotten to dance, today, for a class.

She glanced around, waving at anyone she knew. And a few people she didn't. Being friendly never hurt.

Squall stuck his gunblade point-down in the ground, so that he could fold his arms, lean against a tree, and glower.

Tara's magic was completely useless to him, unless it turned out Rinoa was able to duplicate it somehow, and... bah. Whatever.

Tim was munching on a bag of marshmallows again, but he still grazed from the snack table.

Blackagar wasn't quite sure invisibility was his thing, but it would be interesting to watch, at least. He even picked at the offered 'snacks' going so far as to eat one without inspecting it for ten minutes!

Really all these food and free to boot? Yes, she's not going to turn that down. It wasn't actually the food part that got Asuna its the free part.

Raven felt the surge of confusion and panic almost before her brain even registered that people, not items, had vanished. She turned to Karla and Tara to ask what had happened, but they weren't there. No, they were there, she could feel them not dirty, she just couldn't see them. "You are both invisible," she stated, not realizing that she was as well yet.

...and all of a sudden people were gone, with just voices coming out of thin air, and Kennedy had heard something about someone turning invisible before but only vaguely, and did you really expect her to come up with that one passing reference right now?

"Guys?" she called, jumping up from the log she'd been sitting on, eyes scanning the area, trying to (and not succeeding very well at) get a sense of who all had disappeared. Crap, crap, crap. "Is everybody okay?"

Wasn't like she could see to tell for herself.

Leda's first thought when everyone vanished, was that everyone had in fact, vanished. It reminded her so much of when she'd been sent back in time as a child that she almost started hyperventilating. Like she used to do when she was little.

Then she remembered that the idea was to make things invisible.

"Uh...hello?" she called tentatively.

Harper was still very visible, but looking around in confusion and wondering what happened to all the people who disappeared.

Chloe just kind of stared when she realized that people around the circle had disappeared.

Wait until she realized that she had, too.

Someone might have forgotten that Necromancers were magical...

... Well. That was... different.

//I don't suppose I could stay this way, perhaps?//

Sure, it could be inconvenient after a while, but at the moment, Jono had decided that it was sort of nice to just exist without being there for people to see.

"Can we claim that that was supposed to happen?" Asked Diana's voice from somewhere near the food.
