Peter didn't particularly want to gather a crowd, but making a campfire and tossing black snakes and firecrackers at it seemed particularly amusing today.

So yeah, there was definitely a bit of noise. Peter wasn't a blossoming pyro or anything, he was just a bored teenager. Anyone was definitely welcome to join him. He might even have some moddable extra bits of fireworks.

Jack clapped his hands three times, very slowly. "Congratulations. Modern man has truly mastered fire."

He had no idea why he was being a jerk, but the mood had struck him and he intended to ride it out.

That was fine, Peter was prepared to give as good as he got. "Next I just have to figure out how to make water stop falling from the sky," he said, smirking. "I had no idea simple firecrackers would cause such a commotion around here."

"We're simple folk," Jack returned easily. "Loud noises and flashing lights confound us. We're barely used to the miracle of fire."

"Remind me next week to show you all what a wheel is like," Peter said. "It'll blow your mind."

He shook his head, but he was enjoying every moment of this.

Jack had to bite his lips so he wouldn't smile. "Ah, but the wheel comes from the devil. I can't have any part of it."

"Life's no fun without the devil," Peter said with a solemn nod. "If you ever change your mind, I have some literature you can look at. We have pamphlets on this very subject."

He was just joking, but at that moment he did think that making some fake tracts for the Seventh Day Advent Church of Latter Day Satanists seemed like one hell of a joke. No pun intended.

"I have a faith," Jack answered, shaking his head. "Though that might be a tempting offer, otherwise. Do you find many converts here?"

"Not any yet," Peter said. "But I've been on sabbatical from my missionary work. Been too busy with school."

"Oh, so you take classes?" Jack asked. "I was wondering if you just came to the island to try to blow things up."

"Peter Bishop, brand new senior," he introduced with a little salute. "And don't worry. I'm not secretly the mad bomber what bombs at midnight."

"Jack Priest, graduated senior," Jack said, with some amusement at the match of their last names. "I'm not worried. You're a year and out? I did that. Most interesting year of my life."

"Possibly a year and out," Peter said, gesturing a bit with his finger. "I turn eighteen in October. If I feel like it, I might just split town when I'm no longer a minor."

Though he was slowly getting sold on the idea of finishing his schooling here, much to his own chagrin.

"Careful," Jack warned. "Rose Hathaway and I both thought we'd be gone at 18. My birthday was in December, hers was in March, and we're both still here."

He looked chagrined. "The place gets its hooks in you."
