Main Campfire | Wednesday Night | 5.26.2010

Peter didn't particularly want to gather a crowd, but making a campfire and tossing black snakes and firecrackers at it seemed particularly amusing today.

So yeah, there was definitely a bit of noise. Peter wasn't a blossoming pyro or anything, he was just a bored teenager. Anyone was definitely welcome to join him. He might even have some moddable extra bits of fireworks.

From Killer Tomato cabin, there was someone scurrying low to the ground towards the campfire. "What the hell are you doing?" Kyle asked with no tact. He was jumpy and the noises sounded a lot like trouble. "You're lucky I'm not armed." As introductions go, it wasn't his worst.

"Just some run-of-the-mill fireworks," Peter said, smiling at Kyle with no sense of remorse. "If these make you that worried, I think the school is lucky you're not armed."

"You have to be new. You know how many trigger happy students there are here? Unless you're looking for trouble. There are a lot of people who are into that too."

"I am new," Peter said. He wasn't sure if the other guy was just posturing or being serious, not yet. His smile faded a little. "Peter Bishop. And I'm not looking for trouble."

"It's loud, isn't it?" Jack said with a pleasant wave. "How's summer treating you so far?"

"Loud and jarring. The noise, not summer. Summer's okay. What have you been doing?"

Sookie -- who already had yet another headache thanks to cabinmates -- came out of Harpy and strode towards the main campfire, an eyebrow raised. "Are you tryin' to blow us all up already?"

"The worst that could happen is someone singing their fingers," Peter said. "Or blowing off a few fingers, but if they're that moronic that's not my fault."

He shrugged, smiling. "Not like I'm setting off any Roman candles."

"You're real cavalier about possibly losing fingers!" Sookie exclaimed, eyes wide.

"Hey Sookie," Kyle called to her.

"Hi Ky -- you're back!" Sookie had to cut herself off there and peer at him for a second. "Unless you're not Kyle and we got someone who looks like you."

"Hullo, Sookie," Bod greeted, nodding at her. "Are you enjoying the cabins so far?"

"I kinda am," she said, hedging her answer a bit. "How're you, Bod? Cabins treating you okay?"

"I think he's showing how good he is with campfires," Jack offered. "Hello, Sookie. Good summer so far?"

"Can't complain!" she said, grinning. Though, really, she could, but she didn't need to unload 'My cabinmate has dirty thoughts about her girlfriend and it's giving me a headache,' on poor Jack. "Cabins treating you okay?"

Fireworks were something Bod had seen from afar and only briefly at that. So, seeing them and hearing them from close range was something new. It got him out of his cabin and wandering over for a closer look.

"What's making all that noise?" he asked as he got closer.

"The most entertaining use of chemistry possible," Peter greeted with a little nod. "Minor explosions for fun and profit."

"Fun and profit?" Bod asked, interested. He took a seat and watched the fire with fascination. "Is someone paying you for this or is the profit merely your enjoyment?"

"He is," Jack said, jerking his head over to Peter. "I'm not sure why. Hi, Bod."

"Hullo, Jack," Bod said, nodding at the other boy. "Sometimes noise doesn't need a reason, I think. It can be made just because the urge strikes. I've experience with that."

"Not guns," Kyle announced.

"...which is a definite good thing." Bod blinked, having not even thought of that. "Are guns even allowed here?"

That was probably something he should have looked up earlier.

Jack paused, arms folded, and observed, "I assume the explosions in the fire are intentional."

"I have no idea how they got there," Peter deadpanned, tossing another black snake at the fire. "Oh hey, I think I did that."

Jack clapped his hands three times, very slowly. "Congratulations. Modern man has truly mastered fire."

He had no idea why he was being a jerk, but the mood had struck him and he intended to ride it out.
